Each week one learner in every class will be selected by the designer to be the "LEEder of the Week." Students will be selected by who showed the "Leadership Quality of the Week" best that week.
Our Leadership Quality of the week is risk-taking
CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE WEEK
LEEdership Quality of the Week:
strength to act even when afraid or uncertain.
A lesson in Leadership:
Make eye contact. When someone is speaking, keep your eyes on him or her at all times. If someone makes a comment, turn and face that person.
Lee Quote of the Week:
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. -Winston Churchill

What we are learning:
READING & WRITING
Reading this week, we completed our read-aloud, My Side of the Mountain. We also began our new unit on Drama. Learners wrote and presented an original dramatic adaptation to the class. They did a wonderful job.
MATH
In Math, we began a new unit on 2 dimension figures. Learners multiple complete number talks on the subject.
SCIENCE
In Science, we started our unit on Weather and Climate. Learner completed an ADI on this subject.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In Social Studies this week, we learned about urban and rural locations. They also started a fun project where they are spotlighting their learning.
National School Breakfast Week
All elementary learners have access to free breakfast and lunch through the remainder of this school year.
Istation and Dreambox
We will be taking the February ISIP next week and goal setting.
Important Information
Istation: At the beginning of every month, learners will take their monthly Istation assessments. They know the routine for this - there are 4 parts to this assessment - Vocabulary, Spelling, Comprehension (reading a story & answering questions), and Fluency. It is very important that you DO NOT assist your learner with this assessment.
Student Zoom Sign In Update: Please make sure that learners log into ZOOM with their g.coppellisd.com accounts starting on Monday, August 31st. If you would like more information, please view this website.
Here is a step by step guide on how to complete this action
Schoology: As we continue with virtual learning, Schoology is a very important tool during this time. We know some of our learners are using the app, but it is best for them to use the web-based version: https://schoology.coppellisd.com/
Learners need to make sure they are completing and submitting all of their work for each course since that is how we are taking attendance. In addition, although online learning is taking place at home, learners should be starting and finishing their work on their own as they would in-person at school.
Lee Specials Quarterly Newsletter: Our specials team puts out a newsletter each week. Check it out!
Box Tops: Did you know you can SCAN Box Tops and earn money for our school with items you already purchase for your home? Learn more about this quick and easy way to help our school.
