Kindergarten Awards
The awards ceremony for Kindergarten will be Thursday, May 17th at 6:00 pm. It will be in the PES Gym. We will be recognizing all of the hard work that each kindergarten student has put in throughout this school year. Sunday Dress attire is requested.
Field Day 2018
Field Day 2018 will be Friday, May 11th. This will be an all day event. Each grade level will rotate through many different events earning points. Parents are more than welcome to join for this fun event winding down the school year.
We do have a few pieces of advice. This will be an all day event with some events taking place outside with water included. Suggested items to send with your student to school that day would be: sunscreen, towel, hat, sunglasses, comfortable clothes that will dry quickly, etc.
AR Celebration
The last AR Celebration will be May 9th. To attend your child must have 20 passed AR tests. Each class visits the library each week as a class, as well as individual opportunities throughout the week. We will make sure your child takes their AR tests at school, but we do ask that you make sure your child is ready for the test by reading through their book a few times.
Student of the Month
The character quality for May was honesty. These students were chosen for their honest nature in everything they do.

What are we learning?
We will be doing an author study this month about the author that inspired our Kindergarten theme for this year year. We will be learning all we can about Mr. Eric Carle. We will be reading as many of his books as possible, and even learning how he creates his one of a kind illustrations.
We will also be reinforcing our Kindergarten skills as well previewing some 1st grade math skills so that next year your kiddos will be ahead of the game.
Outdoor Math
The Kindergarten team has been taking advantage of the nice weather. We took math outside of the classroom. Using dice for number recognition and building tens frames, bowling for subtraction has never been so fun!
STEM with Mrs. Scurr
We have had a great first year in the STEM lab and looking forward to next year. Some items we always need are:toilet paper and paper towel rolls, paper plates (clearance holiday plates work great), tape, small boxes, small bottles (Gatorade type), aluminum foil, pipe cleaners, and popsicle sticks. Thank you for you continued support. Be sure to follow us on Facebook STEM at PES.
