Cap and Gown Pick Up
Cap and gowns can be picked up in the counseling office. 2022 tassels can be purchased in the counseling office for $12 cash.
Cap and Gown Pick Up
Thursday, April 7th: In order to control the flow of students and provide a quick and easy experience, please pick up your cap and gown during your assigned time slot.
A-E: 8:30am - 9:30am
F-J: 9:30am - 1030:am
K-P: 10:30am - 11:30am
Q-U: 11:30am - 12:30pm
V-Z: 12:30pm - 1:30pm
*Last chance pick up from 1:30pm - 2:30pm
**If you aren't able to pick up your cap and gown on April 7th, we will hold all paid in full orders in the counseling office for pick up.
E3- You must RSVP!
MHS is proud to host the 7th annual E3 event. Here’s what you need to know!
- Who: E3 stands for “Enrolled, Enlisted, Employed” so ALL seniors are invited!
- What: An awesome lunch, snacks and the ice cream truck, fun stuff to do, time to hang with your friends & raffle prizes!
- When: Monday, May 16th, 9am-1pm
- Where: Event begins in the PAC.
- Why: Because you’ve earned it!
- How to RSVP: Provide one of the documents below to Mr. Gipe either by email or dropping it off to Ms. McKee in the counseling office.
- 4-Year College/University: Fin Aid Award Letter(s), Acceptance Letter, or Proof of Enrollment
- Community College: FAFSA Student Aid Report or Proof of Enrollment
- Military: Enlistment Paperwork or email from recruiter
- Employment: Pay-stub or letter from employer
Make sure your name and your school name/military branch/employer’s name are on the items you turn in!

Senior Scholarship Night- Cap and Gown Event
Senior Scholarship Night is Thursday, May 19th at 6:30pm in the MHS Performing Arts Center. This night is dedicated to honor and recognize the Class of 2022’s scholarship awards. Local scholarships and college scholarships awarded based on merit will be recognized.
**If you have received a merit scholarship from your college or an organization, you need to email or bring a copy of the award letter to Mr. Gipe by Wednesday, May 11th. Seniors who have turned in their award letter to Mr. Gipe will be recognized at Senior Scholarship Night for their eligible scholarships. Seniors are recognized for the scholarships they use, not for all of the scholarships they are offered. If you do not turn in your letter, you will not be recognized. Please see Mr. Gipe or Ms. Bustle if you have any questions.
**If you applied for a local scholarship and will receive one, a counselor will tell you prior to this night that you should attend. Most local scholarship recipients are announced at this event.

Academic Excellence
Seniors with a weighted 3.5 GPA or higher will be recognized at Senior Scholarship Night on May 19th. Seniors will be called by name and receive an academic excellence medal.
*On April 28th, Seniors will receive their AE certificate in Advisory. The seniors receiving a certificate will be recognized at Senior Scholarship Night.*
Baccalaureate Service
Graduation Practice - Attendance is Mandatory
Breakfast will be served at 8:00am in the cafeteria.
Practice will begin promptly at 8:30am in the Main Gym.
Rain tickets and graduation picture information will be distributed at practice.
A complete graduation run through will occur. Do not bring/wear your cap and gown. Casual summer clothing is encouraged.
Practice will be over around 12:00pm.

Coach Joe Popp Stadium
Graduation begins at 8:30am, but seniors need to report to the MHS Main Gym by 7:45am. All graduates should be in their gym seat at 7:45am.
Only students that meet all graduation requirements will be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.
*Graduation in the stadium is typically HOT! Seniors are allowed to have battery powered fans for comfort. Bottled water is provided for graduates.
*Seniors are allowed to invite as many guests to the outdoor graduation as they wish. However, if it rains, the ceremony will be moved to the The MHS Main Gym and an admission ticket will be required.
*All seniors will receive 4 rain tickets at graduation practice on May 27th. These tickets are required IF graduation is moved to The MHS main gym due to weather. These tickets are not replaceable if lost. The Performing Arts Center will be used for overflow. Any guest who doesn't have a ticket will be able to watch the graduation ceremony via livestream.
*Graduation will be broadcast on Facebook Live.
*Families and friends are invited down to the field once graduation is over for photographs and celebration!
*Seniors will pick up diplomas in the field house after the ceremony. Graduates will not receive their diploma if they owe fees/fines. For questions about fees owed, please see Ms. Melanie Greenwell in the MHS Main Office.

Graduation Attire
Graduation Dress Code-
Graduation is a special day that requires special, more formal attire. MHS requires all graduates to follow the graduation day dress code as listed below.
- Graduates must wear the cap and gown sold by Southern Recognition. The gown cannot be altered.
- Dresses or skirts should not be visible below the gown
Pants should be a dark color
Shirts should be collared and white/light colored
Shoes and sandals must be a dark color
Tennis shoes and flip-flops are not allowed
High heels and wedges are strongly discouraged due to the field turf and risk of falling
Graduation cords, stoles, and other adornments are not allowed unless school issued
If you cannot afford any of the required items of clothing, please see the principal, a counselor, or a teacher privately. Give us enough time, and we can help you get what you need.

Graduating with Honors
Latin Honors and NC Scholar will be notated by the graduates name in the printed graduation program.
Latin Honor System
Summa Cum Laude
4.5 with highest honor
Magna Cum Laude
4.2-4.49 with great honor
Cum Laude
3.9-4.19 with honor
Honors are based on final weighted GPA’s. Cords will be awarded at the mandatory graduation practices. The honor will be read at graduation after the graduate's name.
Seniors who achieve a final unweighted GPA of a 3.5+ AND meet course requirements will be distinguished as a NC Scholar. NC Scholars will receive a gold tassel at the mandatory graduation practice and a gold seal will be placed on their diploma. NC Scholar will not be read at graduation.
*Please note that GPA's are not rounded up in order to award Latin Honors or NC Scholar.

Final MHS Transript
**FINAL TRANSCRIPTS WILL BE READY AND SENT THE WEEK OF JUNE 7TH.
**Graduates have to pay a fee for transcripts beginning August 1, 2022. Final transcripts are free as long as they are requested prior to August 1st.
