A warm welcome back to Campus for Semester I, Academic Year 2016-2017!


Hopefully by now you would have received your course reading lists and begun the process of locating the materials that have been referred to on those lists. The following (reminders mostly) may be of interest to you in that regard.

  • Orientation Tours


If you are feeling a bit rusty when it comes to navigating the Library, do consider attending one of our Orientation Tours, which will be offered until September 23rd, 2016, no sign-up necessary. This 60-minute session will provide you with a physical tour of the AJL and will show how to search for and locate a book in our collection. For more information about the Tour, please click here.

Reminder: Accessing the Library

Once you have completed the registration process, inclusive of financial clearance, and are in possession of a valid UWI ID card, you will have access to the Library's facilities, resources and services.


Your UWI ID card is your Library card and must be presented upon entry into the AJL and when borrowing.


The Library's website is your portal to all information about the AJL and resources accessible via the AJL. To visit the site, please click here.

Reminder: Locating Law Materials

The general law collection is located in the K section of the Social Sciences Division, 4th Floor, AJL. Some law materials may be also be found in Course Reserves (Ground [1st] Floor) or West Indiana (2nd Floor).

Reminder: Accessing Law Databases

Once you have completed the registration process, inclusive of financial clearance, you should have access to law databases such as following and more, from on and off Campus, via the Library’s Databases A-Z list. Please click here to do so. Note: In order to access these resources, you will be prompted to enter your UWI ID number and password (same as Banner, my.uwi.edu, myeLearning).

  • LexisLibrary (for guidance on accessing this resource, please click here)


Last academic year you would have been provided with individual sign-in credentials for:


  • CariLaw (Note: The 2016-17 credentials were sent to you by email last week.)
  • Thomson Reuters Westlaw (Note: The 2015-16 credentials (created by you) should still work. If you have forgotten your credentials/are unable to access, try the Forgot my username or password link on the lawschool.westlaw.com page.)
