Mission Statement

Our mission is to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily for research into new treatments and cures, and to encourage and empower others, especially children, to get involved and make a difference for children with cancer.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is an organization that works hard to fund childhood cancer research. Each day 43 kids are diagnosed with cancer. ALSF works with these children and tries to help them. Over 40 research hospitals have been funded by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Alex Scott started the organization in 2005 when she wanted to sell lemonade to raise money for children with cancer. 3 years later Alex sadly passed away and her parents took over the charity. Even though Alex is no longer here, ALSF is still working hard and helping many people.

What is the issue/cause that your charity supports?

The charity, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, is trying to solve the problem of childhood cancer. Cancer in children is a very widespread problem all over the country. Every year, 15,700 children are diagnosed with different types of cancer (“SEER stat fact sheets: All cancer sites”). This is a terrible problem because of all the children being affected from it.

12 percent of children do not survive cancer at all (“SEER stat fact sheets: All cancer sites”). If cancer is not stopped all people will have to suffer from it. Many people will have to get procedures done to stop the cancer, but it is very hard to get rid of. Our world could have more and more people getting cancer every day.

How did the organization begin and grow into what it is now?

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a very well known charity that does a lot of work with children's cancer research. Alexandra “Alex” Scott is the original founder but her parents took over after she passed away. The charity was originally started because Alex wanted to hold an innocent lemonade stand to raise money for other sick children. Pretty soon it became into something much more. After Alex passed away from cancer, her parents took over and started Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

The organization was founded in 2005 in Pennsylvania by a little girl just wanting to help other children. The original goal for the organization was to sell lemonade and raise money for the local cancer research hospital. The goal is still the same today but it has expanded from one hospital to many. Alex had a dream to help people and her parents turned that into a reality. Today, ALSF has raised millions of dollars and still helping many people today.
