CLX Digital Lead Teacher Newsletter
End of Year Edition!
It's that time of year!
Whew! It's hard to believe we're already at the end of the year! Our teachers and students have done some amazing things (check out this Padlet as proof!). As we wrap it up, your Media Team wanted to point out a few things to make sure our tech is ready for the Fall. You will receive an End of Year Technology and Media Checkout sheet soon and it will have to be signed off by Powell, Brown or Eggett before you leave for the summer.
All student devices to media center on Friday, May 31!
Send devices to the media center or they will be collected before the end of the school day. Questions? Reach out to Powell or Eggett.
4th and 5th grade teachers only! Please have students complete these surveys by Friday :)
Back it up!
Do you have things saved to your desktop in your classroom or photos in your iPad you want to keep? Move them to:
- your Google Drive (preferred)
- Your 'My Documents' folder in your desktop
- a personal USB thumb drive
--> All desktops will be updated to Windows 10 over the summer so if you have anything on your desktop, it will disappear. All staff and student iPads will be moved to a different online management system and you will lose your pictures that are saved on the device itself.
Questions? Ask Powell or Eggett for help!
Clean your inbox!
Return all print materials!
Clean it and store it, like a boss.
- Please dust your hearts out!
- Shut down all equipment EXCEPT for the desktop (you can turn off its monitor but it needs updates over the summer)
- Turn off wireless keyboard (top toggle to red instead of green)
- Store all remotes in baggies OR clearly label remotes and put in your desk
- Have a TV cart? Keep the wireless keyboard with it and the remote velcroed to the back
- Moving rooms? Leave all tech in the room. Moving stuff around makes inventory challenging!
Keeping your Chromebook and/or iPad over the summer?
Don't want to keep it? Just leave it with us in the Media Center and you'll get it back during our workdays in August.
Broken tech? Put in a tech ticket!
Something not working? Please put in a tech ticket: https://helpme.asheville.k12.nc.us/ The link can also be found under 'Staff' on the Claxton website. Type in your first.lastname and your ACS password (same as logging into your email OR network computer). Select 'Have a Problem?' and select 'Claxton help desk'. Once your tech is submitted, it gets emailed to me and Ms. Powell, which is the quickest way for us to manage our tech support.
Have a cart with a few problems? Powell will be adding a sheet where you can note repairs if you have several of them to address when we collect your cart!
Great links to share with families as we prepare for summer!
