Education For Boys AND Girls
Gender Equality Matters; Even in Schools
Think on This...
In the United States, you are lucky enough to be able to obtain an education. In other places, it is not the same story.Around the world many girls and young women are not able to gain an education because others do not want them to or it may even be illegal. Women are killed or threatened and looked at funny if they try to obtain an education in a place where they should not. But this isn't the case. ALL women deserve to be treated as equal as the men and other women around them; they ALL deserve an education.
- Nearly 2/3 of all the women in the world are illiterate because they were not able or not allowed to obtain an education.
- Fewer than 50% of young girls in foreign countries do not finish primary school or are only granted to obtain that "high" of an education.
What Can You Do? What Can WE Do?
If you too believe that women deserve to be treated equally as men when it comes to obtaining a fair and proper education then you can help. Co-ed schools everywhere can begin by making sure that the young girls are not being discriminated against and are being treated as equals, if they are not speak up and help to make a change. In foreign countries: donate money, or if you are there help to build a school (or schools) for girls. Every step here counts people!
