Norris News!
A weekly update from campus...
December 1, 2017
We are excited and thankful to be back in the routine after our Thanksgiving break! Mrs. Tobey and I have greatly enjoyed the time that we have spent out and about in classrooms. We are so impressed with the high level of thinking from our students how our teachers challenge them as learners!
This week, our PTA brought Dr. Recess to share the value of play fitness and social emotional health with our students! It was so fun to see our students interact with and explore new learning, even at recess!! Thank you PTA for providing this opportunity! See the great pictures below. Also, thank you to those of you that volunteered with the Angel Tree gifts or participated by sending gifts. We are are continually overwhelmed with the generosity of our Norris Families.

Character Lab and Guidance:
This week, we focused on Gratitude. Kinder-2nd grade explored what they are grateful for express gratitude in various ways. Next week, 3-5th grade will also explore and practice gratitude. See below for a more specific breakdown for each grade.
Kindergarten: Students will reflect upon the meaning of gratitude and explore what they are grateful for. Your kindergartener will enjoy playing the Gratitude Color Game, and creating a “Grateful Heart” to show what they are most thankful for.
1st and 2nd Grade: The 1st and 2nd graders will play the Gratitude Color Game and explore the many areas of life that they are thankful for. Students will get the opportunity to reflect upon what they are most thankful for and write a note to express their gratitude.
3rd, 4th and 5th Grade: The upper grade students will play the Gratitude Card Game in groups. Students will identify various aspects of their life that they are thankful for as well as hearing what their peers are thankful for. Students will reflect upon their gratitude and express it in a thank you card to someone who they are thankful for.
