Message from the Principal
Whispering Pines Families,
Two weeks in, roughly 72 hours of schooling and we only get more excited about the 2021-2022 school year.
Students and staff are engaging in Community Time every morning, they are reading, and playing and learning. We will soon be moving into novels in 3rd through 5th grade. Exploring titles such as Tiger Rising (5th) Lemonade Wars (4th) and Chocolate Touch (3rd). Our specials teachers will be reinforcing Math fluency skills and Vocabulary enrichment across the campus and we are already planning field trips for the year.
As we move toward more normalcy we are still keeping our eyes and actions on safety for our students and staff. We will be pushing back opening the school for campus wide events at this time such as the KISS Luncheon as we have seen an increase in COVID on the campus and district wide. Thank you for those parents that have taken the time to report their child's positive cases. If your child has tested positive please take the time to report here. If a case of COVID has been reported in your child's class you will receive an email notification.
Some new things that students are enjoying are our Science Lab pets. These fluffy guinea pigs have been a hit! The WPE News is broadcasting beginning Monday with live episodes happening in place of morning announcements every day. Our Safety Patrol is in full swing and has done an amazing job in some wet weather. Finally, the car rider line is moving quickly and we have dropped the time to ~30-35 minutes thanks to the hard work and effort by Coach Castle and Coach Wheeler, teachers and safety patrol.
We will keep moving forward at WPE and continue to provide enriching experiences for your children.

Positive Affirmation
Studies show that positive affirmations lead to positive thinking. Get our Panda’s day started on a positive note by having them say a positive affirmation everyday.
Try one of these affirmations…
I can do my best!
The Great 8
Our Great 8 Skill that we will be focusing on this 9 weeks is Optimistic Thinking which is building confidence, hopefulness and positive thinking. Try this at home by having your child choose one area where they need to improve their attitude or behavior. It could be at home with their siblings or at school with their classmates. Tell them to try to improve that behavior or attitude and see what happens! Check out our Quarterly Counselor Newsletter.
