Asylum Reforms
Dorothy Dix was the starter of these reforms of asylums, after having seen the terrible conditions of prisons and how any person deemed unfit for society was just thrown in, including the mentally unwell. She got the goal of making asylums for those mentally unwell, and possibly help them re-enter society.
It took her two years to gather all her information, and soon asylums were made in Massachusetts. She continued her campaigning, getting many states to follow suit. Cruel punishments were banned, and the US was said to have two of the best Prisons/Asylums in the world.
