Principal's Message

Hello Wildcat families,

We are rocking along here at Wilson Creek. The students are diving right into learning and are eager to share what they know. It's a joy to be here! Each morning I either walk the halls to greet students and staff, or I am out at carpool. Wherever I am, I see examples of students looking out for one another.

This morning a first grader was having a tough start and as I walked her to class, several of her classmates stopped to ask if she was ok. In another instance, an upper grade student noticed a kindergartener who seemed confused. She immediately knelt down, asked the child who her teacher was and took her by the hand to lead her to class. These moments make me so proud of our community. I am a firm believer that the work we do shapes the future and if Wilson Creek is any indication of things to come, we are going to be ok.

Thank you parents for raising children who take responsibility for their actions and who look for ways to help others. We are your partners in this work. If we all reinforce the importance of kindness and responsibility, the future will be bright for our kids.

All the best,

Stephanie Haga

Reminder about Potential Class Changes

Please remember that all class placements are temporary in the first few weeks of school. During this time the district goes through a "count" process where they determine whether we have been allocated the correct number of teachers based on the number of students in each grade.

This process is directed by the district, but should be complete by August 26. There is nothing you need to do at this time.

Important Reminder regarding COVID

Parents should report only positive cases to the Parent portal. Do not submit a report if you are waiting on a pending test result or for an exposure/direct contact. Fulton County Board of Health Case Investigators will response to student cases. You will receive a call from the department of health and they will give you a return date to school.

Afternoon Carpool

I want to give a shout out to our afternoon carpool parents. Thanks for having your tags displayed clearly for our staff who are recording the numbers and for pulling up close to the car in front of you so students in the back don't have to walk as far.

Please remember, you need to be in line by 2:30pm for afternoon carpool.

We will have a Principal's Coffee on August 30 from 8-9am in the cafeteria. During this time you will learn about our new ELA curriculum, changes to our grading policy and the schoolwide goals we are working toward this year. There will also be Q&A time.

Creating Character

Creating Character is Wilson Creek's Character Education Program. Creating Character is built upon these top 10 most-identified traits that thoughtfully combine social & emotional learning and character skills at the elementary level. This character program is the teaching of values or virtues that we use every day to make decisions. There are moral virtues such as kindness, compassion, and inclusion and there are performance virtues such as perseverance and work ethic. The character traits are taught in our monthly counseling lessons.

This month's word is cooperation: Working together peacefully to reach the same goal. Below are different ways you can practice this month's character word at home!

Camp MAGIK Open Registration

Camp MAGIK provides a safe, nurturing environment where children can express their grief over the death of a loved one and begin the healing process. Campers not only get counseling from professionals but also experience real healing from being around other kids who have faced similar losses. And because it’s a camp, kids also get to be kids and participate in typical camp activities like canoeing, ropes courses, hiking, and more! Camp MAGIK is held three times a year and there’s no charge for kids to attend.
