Principal's Page "In His Hands"

Thursday - April 29th, 2021

I would like to thank everyone for your patience and flexibility during this past week. The entire staff really misses having students in the building, and we can't wait for their return next Thursday (May 6th). We continue to pray for all those who have been ill with Covid, and look forward to your full recovery.

Because of the Covid shut-down, we are changing the dates of these May activities:

PS Learning Fair Project Presentation: The preschool teachers will reach out with a new date shortly.

MAP testing:

Grades 2-5 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday May 10-12

Grades K-1 and 6-8 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday May 17-19

We've changed the week we are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week to May 10th!

The fantastic, hardworking, dedicated, and flexible teachers here at Bethesda have done a great job the past year teaching kids, both in class and at home. The week of May 10th is a great way to show how much we appreciate them. I met with a small group of parents during spring break to organize plans for that week. They will need assistance making the week a memorable one for our teachers. If you have an hour, a day, or if you can do anything from home to make this week great, contact Stacy Hester at stacyhester1@gmail.com.

Fundraising: We WILL NOT have a walk-a-thon on Friday May 14th. Instead, I am attempting to coordinate a field day on the 21st at Indian Boundary Park. We will need parent volunteers to assist us on that day. If you are available, please contact me at alandgrave@biachicago.com

BIA all school project is part of CLEF scholarship gala!

Last Saturday evening, CLEF (Chicagoland Lutheran Educational Foundation) hosted it's annual Scholarship Gala. The event raised over $164,000 for scholarships and support for it's twenty-two partner schools. How incredible is that! BIA was proud and blessed to be a part of the evening. Our school video was shown at the beginning of the night, as well as, interviews with our very own Mrs. Acosta and our principal/teacher coach, Jennifer Heinze. Kudos to all who made the evening such a success!

As a part of the Scholarship Gala, teachers are able to submit "Dream Grants" for items that they feel will enrich their programs. This year, Mrs. Acosta and Principal Landgrave both submitted grants on behalf of BIA. Mrs. Acosta is looking for a grant to fund a new table and chairs for small group instruction and Principal Landgrave is seeking funding for a Gagaball Pit for our outdoor play area. If you would like to contribute to either grant, you can find their requests at https://e.givesmart.com/events/jtf/i/ Principal Landgrave's is the last one listed and Mrs. Acosta's is in the light blue section. Thank you for your support!
