Mustang Minute
December 18, 2020
On behalf of our Millburn Elementary Staff, we want to thank all families for all their hard work over the last few months. We know this has not been easy for everyone. Yet, we came together to make it the best experience for our students. You have done a great job and you deserve a winter break just as much as anyone.

MES Office Closed During Break
Picture Day Update
In the meantime, we need to start looking at our yearbooks for this year. Because of our delay in our individual picture day, we have come up with another option for students to put their picture in the yearbook so those are ready by the end of the school year. Please read below.
Yearbook Information
Whether your student is in school or learning virtually, the Millburn yearbook staff is working harder than ever to get every student in the yearbook during this unique, historic year. Walsworth and High5.ID have helped us by offering Selfie Portraits. It’s a quick, easy and safe way to make sure we get your student in the yearbook!
- Use the link in the yearbook website link to take your picture. Make sure you have your student's ID number handy. This can be found in Powerschool, their report card, or Push Coin. Your child may even know it, as they used it for lunch last year.
- You or your student will take their selfie portrait on your phone, Ipad, or computer webcam and upload.
- Photos are sent directly to our system and are used to create yearbook portraits and school IDs.
Don’t forget to order this year’s historic yearbook before we run out! Your student will not want to miss out on all of the stories that are making this year so unique. The deadline for ordering the yearbook is January 21, 2021,
IXL Update
For everyone else, you can take a break. But if students are still looking for some adventure, IXL is providing Winter Adventures for students at each grade level. There are recommended skills for students to work on. Follow the link below to access these adventures.

Media Center Check-Out- 3rd-5th Can Now Check Out!!!
Students have always had the ability to check out E-books and Audiobooks in Destiny Discover which can be found in the Clever app. Click the link below to see a video on how to do that.
Something NEW..we want to try checking out books for students. 3rd-5th Grade students can put an actual physical book on hold and it will be checked out to them and available for them by Thursday in the vestibule!
IF a student wants a physical book they MUST put it on hold before Tuesday of the week they plan coming in to get it. Students will be sent an email on Wednesday, confirming that their book will be ready for pick up. If they do not get an email, the book is not ready and they will get an email the following week. Books will be placed on a cart in alphabetical order by student's last name. There will be sticky paper to indicate the name of the student on the spine of the book.
This is something new that we are trying so we are limiting checkout to one book per student and we are starting with 5th grade. Thank you for your patience. Please return books to the book bin in the vestibule of MES.
