Looking Back on 2016-2017...
Paine Elementary Spring Book Fair and Art Gala...
We are so proud of our YOUNG REMBRANDT'S here at Paine Elementary. Our Art Specialists Ms. Harper and Ms. McClendon did an awesome job helping our students create unique pieces of pottery, clay sculptures, abstract art and beautiful paintings that we displayed for the students, parents and members of the community. The abstract art was "colorful and unique" and the pottery was "skillfully done", commented some of our visitors. "We really enjoyed reading the stories that went along with the dragon sculptures," said one of our grandparents that visited. We also featured our Spring Book Fair and made all our Scholastic books available to purchase while parents and friends visited the Art Gala. We were so proud of all our little Picasso's!!!
Champ's Corner...
Champ really enjoyed his first camping trip... He took LOTS of good books to read and share with his friends around the camp fire.
Read Across America Guest Readers...
Our Library Lessons...
By learning how to use information presented in various types of nonfiction materials, students will know how to use the multitude of expository texts that readers of all ages encounter daily, including newspapers, brochures, magazines, instruction manuals, recipes, and maps.
Students also learned how to select book that were JUST RIGHT for them. This is a life skill that young readers should learn early. It helps them in self assessment and enables them to be leaders of their own learning pace.
Collaborations...
We had some GREAT collaboration opportunities this year... THANK YOU so much for all the teachers that are participating and bringing their classes to our Library!!!
Digital BREAKOUT Birthday Bash...
We hosted a schoolwide Digital BREAKOUT to help us celebrate Read Across America. Students were encouraged to use higher order and critical thinking skills to solve problems and find hidden codes. The students had to use that information to unlock the location of the Dr. Seuss BIRTHDAY PARTY… We had LOTS of special visitors come help!!! Once they found the party they got to have their picture taken at the BIRTHDAY BASH and they all received a special PARTY FAVOR!!! We had a BLAST at our Dr. Seuss Birthday BREAKOUT BASH.
