We had a great trip on Friday! Please be sure to ask your child about his/her favorite part of the experience and don't take lunch as an answer! :)

Ms. Gleason's Class ~ We have been busy with our beginning of the year assessments. We have also spent time adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers. We took a quiz on this. It is corrected and in your child's Friday Folder. This week we began place value. Children practiced writing numbers in standard form, word form, and expanded form. Next we will compare and order multi-digit numbers, as well as round them to designated places.

Mrs. Close's Class ~ The kids have been really busy working on rounding and estimating. Towards the end of the week we worked with word problems that required the kids to estimate, then find the exact answer. To add another layer of thinking, they had to decide if their final answer was reasonable. It's a great strategy to double check yourself....especially when shopping. Next week we'll practice subtraction, measurement, and even a little bit of geometry!

Book Orders

All orders are due Monday!

Mini sprouters have been our mission! The kids have been able to see their seeds change this week. Be sure to ask you 4th grader about the seed s/he is specifically observing. The first picture below shows Monday's mini sprouter before the water was added and the second picture was taken today.

How are those bean seeds doing that came home? Oliver was thrilled to share!

Friday Exit Tickets

On most Fridays, the kids complete Friday Exit Tickets for me. It's a great way for them to use Schoology, google docs, and practice their typing skills. For me, it's an awesome way to better my student IQ!
