Parent Technology Night
Learning with Digital Tools @ NEMS
Parents, mark your calendars!
“How am I supposed to manage this iPad at home?”
“What type of work is my student doing on this iPad, and how is it helping them learn?”
“Where are the materials and resources my student needs to study for their next test?”
“What happened to all that paper?”
If you’ve found yourself asking these or other questions about school this year, then this event is for you!
Help is here!
We are excited to host a parent night dedicated to helping you learn more about how iPads and digital tools are being used with your child in their classrooms, and how these tools can be effectively managed and used at home to support their learning and digital responsibility. In our first year of iPad implementation, we want to use this time to build our partnership with you!
WHEN: Tuesday, Dec. 2nd @ 7:00 PM
WHERE: NEMS LGI Room
Why Attend?

2. Canvas--The Electronic Classroom
Canvas is the “online learning management system” Noblesville Schools’ students are using in grades 6-12. Think of Canvas as an “electronic classroom” where files, assignments, resources, and activities are kept digitally and accessed by students for learning both during and outside school. This session will introduce parents to the basic features and functions of Canvas so that they understand how it is being used with students

Students are increasingly using electronic resources over traditional textbooks/materials and completing activities and assignments digitally. Parents will continue to notice a decrease in the amount of “paper” coming home. This session will help parents better understand how student work is being done electronically, and what they need to know to be able to access this work.
