Note from the Principal

Dear Hazeldale Families,

Do you prefer smaller and more casual conversations? I really enjoy visiting with parents during our monthly Principal Coffee Chats. There is one this Friday, the 21st, at 8:35 in the Multipurpose Conference Room. All you need to do is sign in and get a visitor sticker before heading down. I think folks that come also enjoy connecting with each other. When available, other staff members try to pop in as well. As always, you are welcome to stay for the all school assembly afterward. We reserve the section of bleachers closest to the skywall/entrance for this purpose.

Working with you for kids,

Angela Tran

Principal

American Heart Association—Kids Heart Challenge Results from Mr. Landon Lynn

I wanted to say a huge thank you to all those who gave money to help the American Heart Association though our Kids Heart Challenge program last month in PE. Our school's final total raised was $3,920.06! That’s about $300 more than last year!

I was so impressed throughout the program to see how all our Hazeldale students started discussing taking care of their own hearts a little better as we learned about healthy eating and specific heart healthy exercises. I was blown away by how many students fundraised and brought back money to help others who are dealing with sick hearts. We had 112 students bring in at least $5 which is incredible teamwork from our whole community to help those in need. I have some special students I want to honor for their amazing fundraising efforts.

Below are our top ten fundraisers (all of these students will get to slime me at dismissal time one day next month!!!!).

1) Liam F. raised $263.00 (Our top fundraiser Liam will receive a special prize from the Portland Thorns as well. More info on that coming soon.)

2) Marcelo M. raised $250.00

3) Avaline C. raised $200.00

4) Soliana B. raised $162.00

5) Adam S. raised $138.00

6) Aiden C. raised $125.00

7) Sydney S. raised $116.50

8) Peyton B. raised $106.00

9) Orlando B-D raised $105.00

10) Andrew S.raised $103.00

Our top fundraising class was Mrs. Jurich's 2nd grade class so they will be receiving an additional PE time next month. Thanks so much again for your support of this program through Hazeldale PE!
