Friday Message from Dr. Glaze
October is National Principal’s Month, and it is with extraordinary pride that I share a shout out our amazing principals: Brian Johnson and Joel Larrison (TES), Melissa Kikta and John Ayars (TMS), and Craig Leach and Tom Lyday (THS). I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate and honor these incredible professionals for their visionary leadership and tireless pursuit of success for each student. Their dedication to their profession, to this district, and most importantly, to the children in our classrooms, is commendable and deeply valued. Thank you!
Beginning in October, TCSC parents may set up appointments to bring their student in to choose a coat, hat, and gloves. Coats will be available after October 17. To schedule a personal appointment to shop for these winter essentials, contact Gena Schultz at 317-677-3477. I also want to take this opportunity to give a shout out to Gena and her unwavering commitment to this incredible program. Created in 2015, this program continues to thrive thanks in part to Gena’s leadership and strong community partnerships who support the program with their generous contributions. Thank you!
Sunday, October 2 is National Custodial Workers Recognition Day. I would like to give a shout out of appreciation to our Custodial and Maintenance team who help keep our schools clean, well-maintained, and are ever present making sure our staff and students have a safe space to teach, learn and grow. They often go above and beyond in their service inside and outside our buildings. These employees, who arrive early and often stay late, are among our unsung heroes in public education.
They include TES: Michael Newton, Nita Everling, Mark Hendricks, Rodger Hendricks, and Ashley Tragresser. TMS: Lorie Carter, Michelle Hite, and Daniel Wilborn. THS: Rhonda Cannon, Scotlyn Moore, Randy Stout, Talan Stuber, and Cathie Summers. Maintenance: Dan Benefiel, Eric Johnson, and Mark Webster. When you see any of our outstanding Custodial and Maintenance crew, please give them a huge THANK YOU! They have earned it!
I would also like to give a shout out to senior and THS volleyball player Ashlee Schram for achieving her 1,000th kill earlier this week. A first in Tipton history! Congratulations!
As a reminder, half of our seniors are not up to date with their immunizations. Indiana State Law (IC 20-34-4-5) requires that all 12th grade students provide proof of the following updated immunizations: Meningococcal (2 doses) and Hepatitis A (2 doses). If these immunizations are still needed, please contact your physician or the Tipton County Health Department (765-675-8741) to make an appointment ASAP. Proof of immunizations or an appointment date must be provided to the school by the end of the day today (October 1). If you have a religious exemption or medical exemption on file, please send in an updated letter to the school nurse.
In other reminders, PK-12 parent-teacher conferences take place on Wednesday, October 12. School is not in session for students. Our first nine-week grading period ends on Tuesday, October 11. Fall Break takes place October 19-21 with students back on campus, Monday, October 24.
As our first nine weeks of the first semester draws to a close, I would like to thank you for a successful start of the school year. Our teachers and staff have enjoyed getting to know your children and developing positive relationships to set the stage for greater student engagement and achievement in the weeks and months ahead. #BlueFuture
