New! Sophomore Advisory Lessons: March 3rd and March 9th
On March 2nd and 9th, sophomores will meet their counselor in Advisory during a "College and Career Planning" presentation. Counselors will spend the Advisory period covering the following information:
Reintroduction to Naviance
Complete and review Personality assessment results in Naviance
Explore careers and post secondary options based on personality assessment results
Highlight free ACT prep in Naviance
Discuss how students can build a resume in Naviance
EVHS College Planning Night
EVHS College Planning Night - Thursday, March 10, 6:30 PM
The Eastview High School College Planning Night will take place on Thursday, March 10th at 6:30 pm in the Commons area.
This seminar is very timely for families of sophomores and juniors, but all grades are welcome to attend! This informational seminar outlines the process for planning and preparing for a post-high school education.
Topics include EVHS graduation requirements, college visits, choosing a college, college requirements, ACT and SAT testing, and the necessary timelines in the application process. The powerful tools of NAVIANCE, a web-based college and career program, will also be shared.
New! Somali FAFSA night: March 9th
EVHS will be hosting a Somali FAFSA night on Wednesday March 9th from 5:30-8pm in the Commons area for district-wide families who have seniors and need support.

ACT and PreACT Exams- April 5, 2022
EVHS Juniors have the opportunity to take the ACT on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Testing begins promptly at 7:45 AM and is expected to end at 11:30 AM. Pre-registration will be done in Advisories on Wednesday, March 16th.
EVHS Sophomores have the opportunity to take the PreACT on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. The PreACT is a practice ACT exam. The PRE-ACT will begin at 7:45 AM and is expected to end at 11:30 AM. Pre-registration will be done on the morning of the test.
There is no fee or pre-registration needed for these exams. There is no makeup test date offered.
What should students bring to the ACT and PreACT?
· An ACT approved graphing calculator
· No. 2 pencils
· Acceptable photo ID
What should students NOT bring? Testing regulations do not allow these items in the testing room and need to be stored elsewhere during the test. Students are encouraged to leave all unnecessary personal items at home on this day.
· Cell phones or iPads
· Any electronic devices that record or make noise
What can students do to prepare before the day of the test?
· Plan to be in school that day. Do not plan appointments or vacations for this date.
· Use their Naviance student account to access Naviance ACT Test Prep for free. Click on Resources to Get Ready from the Naviance homepage. Timed practice tests are available for students there.
· Visit the ACT free practice site located here.
What can students do to prepare for the day of the test?
· Get a full night’s rest and have breakfast (students will receive the option for lunch after the test and be able to request a lunch in their advisory class).
· Arrive early, in advance of the test start time.
· Test proctors will not permit students who arrive late into the testing room.

St. Paul College FREE Summer Camps (paid for by the Schulze Grant)
Saint Paul College in partnership with the Schulze Grant has some amazing FREE opportunities for students ages 13-17 this spring and summer!
The registration will be on a first come basis and once full we will start a wait list. The only requirement to qualify for one of these offerings is to be from a School District other than Saint Paul Public Schools. Saint Paul Public Schools is fortunate to have a similar grant with the 3M corporation and will be supporting their students with that opportunity.

Seniors: Applying to a UW School? Application Assistance is Still Available!
ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS
UW HELP is offering one-on-one sessions for students wanting assistance completing the online application for admission, looking for general information about a specific UW campus, or seeking guidance with the admissions process. Students can go online and schedule a 15-minute virtual session with one of UW HELP’s Outreach Specialists.

MN Tuition-Free Pathways for Students in High-Need Career Areas
Minnesota Future Together Grants will provide eligible Minnesotans with a tuition-free pathway for earning a certificate, diploma, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree at any public institution in the state. The grants are available starting spring 2022 through 2024.
If you are currently studying healthcare, STEM, business, industry and technology, education, or public service at a public institution, reach out to your college's financial aid office. And if you're a prospective student looking to go into one of these fields, chat with an admissions representative about the opportunity.

Park Nicollet's Growing Through Grief Support Group
Park Nicollet’s Growing Through Grief counselor, Jenny Simmonds, will be offering a weekly grief group for Eastview students who have experienced the death of a significant family member (parent, sibling, caregiver, etc.). If your teen is living with loss and you think they could benefit from participating in a grief group, please contact Molly Wellik at molly.wellik@district196.org and we will connect with your student regarding their interest.
