April 26 - Weekly Newsletter - Ms. Dana & Ms. Terry
We've had a lot of excitement in our classroom over the past few weeks! The Pole Bean seeds we planted really took off. -Our transparent planting box allowed us to watch the whole growth process from seed to plant!
Three of the chrysalises hatched into butterflies and we released them on a sunny Monday when the temperature reached 70 degrees. We spread some orange slices and flowers on the grass with the hope that they would stick around for a while. We were able to observe them for a bit while they explored their new environment and exercised their wings.
We also had the opportunity to observe and hold newborn chicks. Ms. Kimberly's classroom had an incubator this Spring and invited us to see first the eggs and then all seven of the beautiful chicks after they hatched.
Before the spring recess I sent home a snack calendar for the month of May. Attached to the calendar is a note detailing our new snack policy. For the remainder of the year we will be a nut-free classroom in order that all may participate. There are many options for snack; all fruit and veggies, whole grain crackers, cereals and pretzels, hummus and yogurt... If you do send in a pantry item please include the packaging.
Our final conference day is on Friday, May 6th. School will be closed but we will provide free childcare for the duration of your conference. I look forward to meeting with all of you then. I will send home conference reminders on Monday, if you haven't yet signed up we can take care of that early next week.
Welcome to Parker Zulkofske who will be joining our classroom in May! Parker is moving from Stepping Stones to our Children's House; we look forward to getting to know him!
Thank you for your support, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Warmly,
Dana Adamson
