Why Meet? To Build a District Specific Service Plan for the 2019-2020 Academic Year
The MRESC's expanded curriculum team is eager to meet with you and your administrative team to finalize an instructional service plan for the 2019-2020 academic year. We are eager to begin supporting your teachers and administrators as they seek to maximize student growth within a fun and dynamic learning environment.
- This initial meeting will provide our team with an opportunity to review district goals, discuss needs assessment survey data (spring 2019), and highlight core services available to teachers and administrators.
The following is a summary of core services available exclusively to curriculum team districts for the 2019-2020 academic year:

THE MRESC's CURRICULUM DIRECTOR TEAM
Robert Batty, Mathematics Content Specialist
Primary Focus Area: Mathematics
Background: Bob is excited to be joining the curriculum team at the Midwest Regional ESC. He taught for 18 years in a high school math classroom and has three years of experience as math content specialist/curriculum director. Bob is an active member of the Dayton Area Math Teachers Circle, The ODE network of regional Leaders, and the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics where he currently serves as the nominations committee chair.
Bob earned his bachelor’s in math education from Miami University. He later earned a master’s of arts in teaching mathematics from the University of Cincinnati and finished his principals licensure at Indiana Wesleyan University. He and his family reside in the Versailles area.
Gina Rogers, ELA Content Specialist
Primary Focus Area: English Language Arts
Background: Gina comes to this position with 23 years of experience as a former classroom teacher and an elementary administrator. She is excited to be working with our tri-county area given the fact that she has roots in all three counties. Gina and her family are natives of Kenton and currently reside in Anna.
Gina earned her undergraduate degree in elementary education/special education from Muskingum College. She also obtained a master’s degree from The Ohio State University in Integrated Teaching and Learning and a principal’s license from the University of Dayton.
Dave Shellhaas, Science Content Specialist
Primary Focus Area: Science
Background: As a high school science teacher for eleven years, a K-12 science curriculum specialist for 14 years, and a district curriculum director for two years, Dave brings a wealth of information and experience to his audiences.
Dave has shared his expertise about science education, formative assessment, and sound instructional strategies in numerous school districts across Ohio and has presented at many state and regional conferences. Being a past National Board Certified Teacher, Dave shares his insights and expertise about effective instruction with districts to provide teachers with practical strategies and techniques to improve instruction in their classrooms.
As a current director of curriculum for the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center, Dave has served districts of Shelby, Logan and Hardin counties in all subjects and many topics over the past years. Dave looks forward to serving our districts as a science specialist, as well as in other areas as necessary.
