WEEKLY UPDATE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT, DR. SHIBLER

Dear RPS Stakeholders:

The current school year continues to go well and we are excited to be planning for next school year, which will include Rockford Virtual as an option for families. The success we are seeing is in large part due to your efforts on behalf of our students in these very trying times.

I'm happy to let you know that immediately following spring break, we will resume offering community services recreation programs. In addition, athletic camps are planned to take place this summer. As I've told you previously, we are finalizing plans for our tuition-free summer school program. Details about the program as well as transportation information will be shared in a future communication.

As we near the end of the school year, plans are underway for Rockford High School graduation. The date is set for Tuesday, May 25, however, the location is yet to be determined. A decision will be made over the next several weeks as we learn what gathering restrictions may be in place at the time of the event.

Finally, I realize there are varying viewpoints on safety orders, such as gathering restrictions, face masks, etc. These orders are issued by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. As a public school district, we are required to follow them. Whether you agree or disagree with them, I appreciate your understanding of the fact that we do not have the latitude to alter the orders nor do we have the option to ignore them. We appreciate your patience and understanding of the fact that we are required to carry out the orders as part of our duties.

IF YOU'RE NOT FEELING WELL AT SCHOOL....REMINDER TO PARENTS AND STUDENTS

Please remind your child, if they are not feeling well, they need to let their teacher know and be excused to go down to the Main Office Health Room. Mrs. Bargwell will make a call to parents if necessary.

Students should not call or text parents from their personal phones.

NRMS STUDENT DROP-OFF REMINDERS

Dear Parents,

We have noticed morning drop-off has recently been extremely backed up on 10 Mile all the way to Northland Drive, creating traffic issues for the public. This is a reminder that drop-off begins at the Northeast end of the parking lot and all vehicles are to pull all the way through the drop zone to maximize the number of students exiting cars. Students are not to be dropped off at the main entrance or staff parking lot. Thank you for reviewing these protocols and the attached diagram to ensure all students arrive at school safely and on time. We appreciate your attention to this matter as safety is our first priority.

Sincerely,

North Rockford Middle School Administration and RPS Security
