The Star
Ruby Bridges - where the STARS come to shine!
Translation available!
Hello from the principal's desk!
May 9th,
Hello Ruby families! All is well over here at Ruby Bridges. The sun is shining, recess is going better than ever, and the year is sadly coming to a close.
This week is Teacher Appreciation. Please send your teachers some love, they can use it :). Flowers, lunches, even a nice card saying how much you appreciate them can all go a long way. Post a note on our Ruby Bridges PTA Facebook page or tag us on Twitter. #ThankaTeacher today! We had lunch today cooked for our whole staff by our Arabic families, led by the amazing Mrs. Noor. It was delicious.
Our annual OPEN HOUSE is this Thursday night, tomorrow, from 6:15 - 7:45. I hope you can join us to celebrate our students' amazing work. Come visit, see your class and check out what your student might do in next year's grade.
We are in the middle of our annual SBAC testing for our 3rd - 5th graders. Our 5th graders started us off last week, and impressed all of our staff with their determination, drive, grit... whatever you want to call it, they showed it as they worked all week on these computer based assessments. If you want more information about these assessments, check them out here - https://practice.smarterbalanced.org/student/. See what our kids are being asked to do, you will be impressed.
In other news, the Walk and Wheel Wednesdays have started. We have a Walking School Bus leaving Coast Guard housing at 7:50 on Wednesday mornings. We are trying to get others going from Summer House and the Esperanza apartments. We also have Bike to School day on May 10th and the AUSD wide Bike Rodeo this Saturday from 12-4 with music from the Dilly Dallies. See the flyer below.
With love and gratitude,
Jesse Woodward
