Wednesday Stadium Rehearsal:


On Wednesday Sept. 15 the band will travel to Challenger Columbia Stadium for rehearsal. This is advantageous because the acoustics of the parking lot are very different from a stadium, and the students will benefit from practicing in the actual stadium that three of the four competitions will be in. Buses transportation will be provided. Below is the schedule for Wednesday:

4:00 load trailer/box trucks

5:00 depart

5:20 arrive/unload

8:00 end rehearsal/load trailer and box trucks

8:45 return to CLHS


Students wishing to drive themselves or ride with parents will need to turn in an alternate transportation form by Tuesday. If students have instruments on the trailer they will need to meet us back at school to unload.


Friendswood Marching Contest September 25:


The contest will be at Henry Winston Stadium at 702 Greenbriar, Friendswood, 77546. A more detailed schedule will be sent out later this week. We will perform at 11:30 am for prelims. All bands will participate in finals to gain more information and comments from the adjudicators. Finals schedule will not be announced until after prelims. Lunch and dinner will be provided for students. Spectator tickets will be available at the gate for $15 for all day pass, $10 for prelims or finals.

What a great turnout at our last 2 away games! So many students and families in the stands and so many parents that helped out! Good news: The next FIVE games will be at Challenger Columbia Stadium. Sometimes we are the HOME team and sometimes we are VISITOR, so make sure you purchase the correct tickets. This week (9/17) we are the HOME team. Looking forward to seeing you at the games and please let me know if I can answer any questions.

Key Event of the Week #1: Mattress Fundraiser

Mattress Fundraiser is ONE Week AWAY!

Did your student bring home a yard sign? Place it in your yard (if allowed by your HOA) The countdown is on! This event is now only 1-week away…

Our band can make a lot of money with little effort! About 10% of the population at any given time is in the market for a mattress. Our job is to talk to our friends, neighbors, etc. in person and on social media to get the word out that we are having a sale and to get them in the door. Because there are no overhead costs, all we have to do is to get 50 people to buy a mattress from our sale to reach our goal of $10K!

Here is the path I see to us reaching our goal:

· There are about 150 people in the band.

· Each of us gets ONE PERSON in the door to the sale

· One-third of them buy a mattress

· We make $10K….Easy Money….tell everyone you know!

Key Event of the Week #2: Full Band Uniforms

Full Band Uniforms will be worn starting this week (Game #4). By now, everyone should have a uniform that fits and does not have anything missing. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
