CHARGER CHRONICLES

February 5, 2021

“Look upon yourself as a tree planted beside the water, which bears its fruit in due season; the more it is shaken by the wind, the deeper it strikes its roots into the ground.” -- Margaret Mary Alacoque

Please pray for the families and friends of our SMM community who have asked for our prayers. If you would like us to pray for a loved one, please send Coach Gay an email: gknock@saintmm.org.

For all service men and women; first responders; police; firefighters; health care workers; and everyone who is keeping us safe, protected, and fed during the COVID 19 crisis.

Simone Boell, Dale McCloskey, Ryan Ware, Lorraine Olmo, Jessica Bodron, Krista Soileau, Nicholas Eirich, Carla Hurlburt, Cheryl Walters Swanson, Juan Peralta, Nicole Forrest, Courtney Palulio, Lisa Ferrer, Mrs. Peterson's Mom, Richard Michell, Patsy Meyers, Dana Cline, and Mary Grace Dragon.

For the repose of the soul of Richard Roach; for his family and friends; and for all those who mourn his loss.

For all those sick and suffering from the Coronavirus, may they recover quickly and completely.

Please Pray for Our Priests

In addition to our requests for prayers for our SMM families and community, we request that you pray for individual priests in our Archdiocese. Our priests need our prayers as much as we need theirs. These priests are celebrating their birthdays this upcoming week. What a great birthday present to have so many people praying for them.

Rev. John-Nhan Tran; Rev. Msgr. J. Anthony Luminais; Rev. Tuan Anh Pham; Rev. Jude Emunemu; Rev. Wilginyz Polynice, S.D.D.; Rev. Stephen Leake, S.D.B.; Rev. David Keong Seid, O.P.

Here is a brief prayer that you may want to use:

Eternal Father, we lift up to you these and all the priests of the world. Sanctify them. Heal and guide them. Mold them into the likeness and holiness of your Son, Jesus, the Eternal High Priest. May their lives be pleasing tp you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

WE RECEIVED A GOOD NEWS (ANONYMOUS) MESSAGE FROM A PARENT THAT MR. COLLINS WANTS TO SHARE WITH YOU

Hi Mr. Collins,

I just wanted to “anonymously” brag about one of our SMM parents. Today while I was taking my daughter to school, there was a truck stalled in the right hand lane of Gause Blvd near 9th St. As I passed, the driver was starting to get out of his truck, so I told my daughter to say a prayer for him as the roads were wet and it was a dangerous spot. We prayed for him and continued on to school. While I was returning home, after safely dropping off my daughter, it warmed my heart to see that a kind gentleman was helping the older driver push his truck to a safe spot. As I got closer, I recognized that the kind gentleman was an SMM parent (and son of SMM faculty - their family is pretty distinguishable). It was Jeff Ganucheau who had pulled over (and safely parked his minivan - which I assume was full of his beautiful children on their way to school) to get out in the rain and help the driver. If the Ganucheau crew was tardy today, I sure hope they were excused, as witnessing their daddy’s act of kindness is one of life’s best lessons! I’m proud to be part of the SMM family!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Kudos to our January Students of the Month in Kindergarten through 4th grades. We are proud of you for being such great role models for your classmates.

THANK YOU, SMM PTO

CAN YOU SPOT THIS YELLOW MUSCLE CAR?

Jim Agar, SMM Maintenance, has been collecting and restoring muscle cars with his dad since he was twelve years old. These are cars that actually run and that you would like to drive around town. And now, Jim is restoring muscle cars with his son. Jim is a member of a car club in Slidell and he religiously attends Cruisin' the Coast every year.

Jim also has his cars managed by a company that finds vintage cars to be used in movies. HIs yellow muscle car can be seen in a new Disney Plus TV mini-series, rated PG, called "Secrets of Sulphur Springs." It is about a family who, unbeknownst to them, bought a haunted hotel on the edge of a small town. The trailer for the new series is below the pictures of Jim's cars.
