Timberstone Bands
From the Directors
Coming up in October, we'll be continuing our skill development and preparing for the Holiday Concert at Southview High School.
Later this month, the entire school will get to see the Southview Marching Band in a special performance. We always hope that getting to see the marching band is a big inspiration for TS band members. Ultimately, we want to get all current band members to the high school level, and enjoy playing their instrument so much that they continue beyond their Sylvania years.
Finally, we feel that any playing assessment we have the kids record is a work in progress. Please remember that all playing tests can be performed again before the end of the grading period. If you and/or your band member isn't happy with one of their playing grades, all they need to do is play it again with more confidence. We strongly encourage our students never to settle for average playing and hope that you agree with that.

Retaking a playing assessment...
- Any playing test can be replayed within a grading period. Example, any test performed during the first grading period can be re-played before October 14.
- One option is to come to the band room any day of the week, before school starts, and play for a director.
- Another option is in google classroom. We have posted an assignment in google classroom where students can VIDEO record themselves playing a test and they can submit the video in google classroom.
- Once a re-played test is turned in, we will grade it and keep the higher score for powerschool.
All students should join their Band Google Classroom

Holiday Band Concert
Uniform for all concerts is Black Dress Shoes, Black Dress Pants, a White Dress Top (boys button down, with collar), boys should wear a tie (color doesn't matter), Ladies may wear a scarf if they choose. These are formal events, so tennis shoes, jeans, and clothes of a relaxed nature are not appropriate to wear.
Because our performances are short in length, we require all band members to stay from the beginning to the end of the concert. This is a matter of respect for other band members and their families. Not to mention, it allows all of the band program to show off what we've been working on at school.
Report time for band members is 6:30pm. 6th Grade band will report to the stage. 7th Grade Band will report to the band room. 8th Grade band will leave their coats/cases along the wall in the band room and report to the theater house with their instruments and music.
