Message from TFHE:


We hope that your week has gone well so far. For your information, please be advised that the demonstration in front of Roberto Cruz Leadership Academy (RCLA) this morning (January 7th) was organized by families of Voices Academy Mount Pleasant to express concerns related to that particular school site. Voices Academy is a K - 8 school co-located on the TFHE Campus with two of our high school sites.


The demonstration in no way related to any of The Foundation for Hispanic Education Schools as confirmed by a check-in with the attending participants. Upcoming Events:

  • Tuesday, January 8 thru Friday 14, 2022 is week #2 of 6 weeks of Grading Period #4.


  • This week we will administer the MAP Mid Year Assessments for 9th-12th Grade scheduled for Thursday, January 13th and Friday, January 14th, 2022.

  • Extremely important: Parents, please keep your child home if they are experiencing any COVID-like symptoms. If you are unsure, please call the school at 408-729-2281and speak with any one of my team members prior to dropping your child off at school or you can speak with Mr. Rios at the front of the school before dropping your child off. Your cooperation is much appreciated.

  • LCPA is looking for PEER Tutors. If you are interested in serving as a PEER TUTOR for Community Service Hours, please contact our Coordinator of Student Advocacy Ms. Lindsey Perez at Lperez@sjlcpa.org

Student Rising Above Rising Star Program for Juniors! Application is due March 4, 2022

Students Rising Above Rising Star Program is looking for HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS graduating in Spring 2023, who have demonstrated strength of character in the face of challenging odds, and dream of a college education. Selected students come from low-income households and are rising above tremendous difficulties and succeeding in school and in life despite their circumstances at home. These difficulties may include poverty, neglect, violence, addiction, and homelessness.


Students will be selected to receive mentoring support, financial assistance, and career guidance from Students Rising Above. Their goal is to provide students with the individualized support they need to be successful in college and in life.


REQUIREMENTS


Students Rising Above Scholarship Program Requirements:


  • MUST CURRENTLY BE A JUNIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL
  • Overcome obstacles that are not of their own making
  • Low-income or living on government assistance -- $10K - $20K (or lower) per person as stated on IRS documents
  • High school senior in 2022-2023 school year
  • Committed to earning a college education.
  • G.P.A. of 2.8 or higher
  • Must live within the nine-county Bay Area

UC Davis - Health Equity Academy

Interested in a career in healthcare? The UC Davis School of Medicine, Office of Student and Resident Diversity hosts a FREE Health Equity Academy for socioeconomically disadvantaged high school students to learn more about medicine/healthcare.

Health Equity Academy introduces students to various health professions, medical technology, and health systems. Students will get to meet essential healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, and current medical students and learn how to become a future healthcare leader through collaborative projects and activities.

Bank of America - Student Leader Internship

Bank of America is looking for the next generation of community leaders! As a Student Leader, you will participate in an eight-week paid internship at a local nonprofit organization where you will learn first-hand about the needs of your community and the critical role nonprofits play. In addition, you will learn valuable civic, social and business leadership skills. Each Student Leader will attend the Student Leaders Summit held in Washington, D.C. where you will learn how government, business and the nonprofit sector work together to address critical community needs. This opportunity is open to Juniors and Seniors.
