The Week of Jan. 23rd
Open House
We will be having another Open House this Thursday. Please have your child wear their dress uniform to school that day.
The Play
We have started play practice at school. The children are doing a very good job learning the music for the play. Scripts will be going home at the end of the week, and students must work with their parents at home to memorize their lines. Costume information has been sent home with all students. If you have any questions regarding your child's costume please email their homeroom teacher.
Red Folders
Parents, your child should be bringing their red folder home every Tuesday. Please make sure you are going through their papers, talking with them about the work, signing the folder, and returning it the next day.
Social Studies
In Social Studies, we are discussing the thirteen colonies. We are splitting the colonies into three regions, the New England Colonies, the Middle Colonies, and the Southern Colonies. We are learning what colonies make up each region, and will assess the students on all thirteen colony names at a later point. For now, we have been exploring how the colonies were governed, their economy, daily life, education, recreation, and how important Native American trade was.
The following website is a great tool to help your children learn about the colonies;
Illness
Many students have been coming down with colds, and even the flu. If your child needs to stay home to due to fever or illness, please let their homeroom teacher know so they can get their missed work together. We are keeping our classrooms sanitized, making the children wash their hands often, and just trying to keep everyone well. Hopefully cold and flu season will be over soon!
Have a great week!
