Table settings
Where does everything go?
Why is it important?
1. IT INDICATES THE TONE/FEELING PEOPLE HAVE ABOUT BEING TOGETHER.
2. IT LETS PEOPLE KNOW THAT YOU THINK THEY ARE IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO PUT IN EXTRA EFFORT FOR THEM.
3. IT INFLUENCES THE APPEARANCE OF THE FOOD SERVED.
Good news!
As confusing and complicated as place settings may look, the good news is that it doesn't change! No matter where you are, a general place setting will look the basically the same! There is some comfort in that. Especially at crowded tables where it may be difficult to see where one place setting ends and another begins. Place setting etiquette allows us to know FOR SURE which water glass belongs to me and which spoon belongs to you! It is could be quite embarrassing to pick up your boss's water glass! Review the place setting below. This is a very formal place setting for a multi-course dinner. It is not common, but you may see more silverware the more formal the setting and the more courses being served. Don't panic. The rule of thumb is to use the silverware from the outside in...toward the center plate.
Take a moment to watch the video below before setting your own place setting.
