NEWS & UPDATES FROM SM NORTH
Parent Teacher Conference Information
Parents and Guardians,
Believe it or not, parent teacher conferences are just a few short weeks away! Unlike the fall semester, where evening conferences took place followed immediately by an entire day of conference times, the winter/spring conferences take place only on Thursday evening, February 3, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Conference are only 10 minutes in length and can be scheduled for either an In-Person or Remote Conference (Please inform/email the teacher if you’d prefer a remote conference so they can send you their WebEx link).
Conference signups are now available to sign up on a first come, first serve basis via Skyward with directions below.
Parents will schedule conferences through Skyward. Directions on how to do this are included here.
Directions to Sign Up:
1. Log into your parent account in Skyward. https://skyward.smsd.org/
2. Click on “Conferences” on the left hand navigation
3. Click on “All Conferences”
4. Click on “Select a Time” for the class you would like to schedule a conference for
5. Find the time slot that works for you to have the conference and click “Select” and then “Save”
6. You will repeat this process for each teacher/class that you would like to schedule.
7. You will then receive an email for each time slot you select for your student.
8. WebEx conference can be scheduled by corresponding with your student’s teacher(s).
The intent of parent-teacher-student conference is to provide positive dialogue between parents, students, and teachers to help our students succeed here at North. Please make sure you bring your student with you to conferences. If they absolutely can’t attend, please have a conversation with them beforehand so you have some background information about the class you are having a conference.
NJROTC members will be around SMN to guide and direct parents and patrons to the correct location; Spanish-speaking interpreters will be available both days to assist families. Spanish-speaking parents that need assistance signing up for conference via Skyward, please contact Maria Diaz-Lorenzana at 913-993-0277 or email her at marialorenzana@smsd.org.
Thank you,
SMN Administration
Winter Formal postponed

They have created the theme- “Brighten the School with Kindness”!
· Our JAG-K students will be working together with our students in the ACE program to make bags of goodies to say thank you to staff.
· Students will be given the opportunity to “brighten” the school by committing to a kind act.
· Daily announcements will center around kindness.
· Social Media posts.

REQUIRED VACCINATIONS
Thank you to all parents who have turned in updated vaccination records for our SMN students!
We still have quite a few students who are missing at least one vaccine.
Please help us out in the nurse’s office and send any updated vaccine records to valsnow@smsd.org .
Our next exclusion date for SMSD is coming up quickly in January.
PLEASE, if you’ve been emailed or contact by phone about a missing vaccine, try to get that done as soon as possible.
Our Johnson County Health Department is a good resource for updating vaccines, as is Walgreens, CVS, Mercy and Truth Clinics.
Vaccines can also be obtained at our Health Partnership Clinic at SMW on Thursdays during clinic hours from 11am to 3pm
If you need help contacting any of these businesses, please call us at 913-993-6907 or 913-993-6916.
Stay warm and healthy everyone!!
And, as always, thank you for sharing your amazing children with us!!
Nurse Kelly and Ms. Snow.
Food Deliveries from Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc. are not allowed at SM North. Please encourage your student to refrain from ordering food for delivery. The delivery drivers will be turned away due to not having proper approved identification and this becoming a logistical issue. We appreciate your help in this matter.
