Counseling Department Update
September 16 - October 16
This Month....
School is now kicked into full gear. Here is the latest:
Personal Development: The 7th grade students tackled stress and mindfulness and are continuing the discussion on protesting and the 1st Amendment Rights.
Career Exploration: The 8th grade students have just completed Unit 2 - Careers & Education. They took several career surveys to learn about jobs that potentially matched their interests and abilities. The students presented their research on the Colorado Career Cluster Model.
Small Groups: Ms. Jacobsen hosts a weekly lunch bunch group with 8th grade girls. They focus on issues with self-esteem and relational aggression.
Newsletter: September's newsletter was about making decisions and learning to say "No".
Staff: The staff received part 1 of Cultural Competency Training. Cultural competence is the ability to successfully teach students who come from a culture or cultures other than our own. We want to give the staff the tools they need to be more culturally competent and build better relationships with our students.
