Kinder Review
May 20, 2016
Literacy Corner
We read a variety of texts related to the ocean and ocean animals. We reviewed writing sentences. Please help your child with writing sentences related to each other. Work on capitalizing the beginning of each sentence, putting a finger space between each word and a punctuation at the end. We have worked on the a the differences between the period (.), the exclamation point (!), and the question mark (?).
We are still in the process of assessing the students for reading. We are so longer sending home FRED books. Please have you child read books at home. This would be a great time to visit the public library to see the activities they have planned for the summer.
Next week we will continue reviewing and assessing. We will learn about summer and the fun we will have, as well as begin our memories book.
Math Lab
Next week we will continue to review all skills taught thus far, especially in solving word problems. We will also begin and complete our math assessment this week. Please make sure your child comes to school well rested.
Parental FYI...
With all of the assessments going on in class, it is very important that the students are following the noise levels in class. Please talk with your child about following the expectations in class.
We will have a "Memories Day" on Tuesday, June 7. During this day, we will complete activities about memories of our kindergarten year, and pass out small gifts (tokens of our friendship) to our friends in class this year. Please have your child bring in a small inexpensive gift for each student (25) in class. We will put these gifts in buckets for them to take home. Ms. Lytle and I are giving the students jump ropes. The items can be anything from candy to toys to school supplies. If there is something that your child likes, I am sure the other students would like it too. Pinterest has a lot of great suggestions for end of the year gifts for students if you would like some ideas. Please have all items to school by Friday, June 3.
Please view the video below. It gives you some great information about Camp Invention which will be held at Rocky River this summer. This camp allows your child to work with other students, exploring their creative side and having fun in the process. This camp allows your child to continue to work on their reading, math and science skills without stress. It is a great camp to be involved in. I have worked the camp for the past two years and will be there again this year. Check it out...
