Biography
Filippo Brunelleschi lived in Florence, Italy and rarely ever left. He taught himself most of his skills. He was a goldsmith, architect and a sculptor, he always tinkered with sculpting and he was brought to Rome because he was widely known for sculpting. Some of his sculptures are in a small domes in Jacopo Soprarno and S. Felictia. He also made a church in S.Lorenzo. Some of his patrons are Lorenzo Ghiberti, Donatello and Masaccio.
The Work- Santa Maria del Fiores
Filippo Brunelleschi created Santa Maria del Fiore’s high altar. He made it in 1436. It is still standing today in Florence, Italy. This was the largest free standing dome using new styles in Italy. This piece is interesting because it is the largest free standing dome in Italy. This resembles Secularism because it was built for a church.
