Report to Parents: Maximize Parent-Teacher Conferences
During Thanksgiving Week, Students, Parents and Teachers will be meeting for conferences to discuss Strengths and Goals for the 2016-17 school year! Most of the meetings will take place during the afternoons of November 21st and 22nd - but are typically held at a convenient time for both parents and school. This edition of Report to Parents: Maximize Parent-Teacher Conferences focuses on actively preparing for your child's conference.
"Parent-teacher conferences are an excellent opportunity for families to meet with teachers one-on-one and learn how their children are doing academically and socially. To make these meetings as smooth and stress-free as possible, follow these tips for conference preparation, execution, and follow-up."

Buckingham Shoe-Drive - Soles4Souls - Ends November 22nd
Hello Buckingham Community -
Thanks to your generosity, I have collected 250 pairs of shoes for Soles4Souls as part of my Eagle Scout Project! My goal is to collect upwards of 350 pairs! There are only a few days left for my shoe drive as it ends on November 22nd, so please consider bringing in gently used shoes to help reach my goal for the organization.
Please place your donations in the Soles4Souls bin located in the Buckingham Main Office.
Thank you very much!

THE BUCKINGHAM COUNSELOR'S CORNER: CHILDHOOD ANXIETY
November Quick Tip: What Maintains Anxiety?
Two quick tips or strategies might help in managing your response without providing an escape:
1. Do not Provide Excessive Reassurance
- Repeated “You’ll be ok…it’s ok…you’ll be ok…” to a child tells them that you’re worried, too, which will reinforce their anxiety
- Keep your response short – acknowledge the fear or worry and then move on from the fear to talk about a plan or use a strategy
- Allow your child to discuss their worries during a designated time of the day except for bed time.
- Set a timer for your agreed upon time (around 5 minutes).
- When the child brings up a worry and it is not your “worry time” remind them to save it for then. “That sounds like a worry thought…I’ll hear it at 4:30 during worry time.”
- Only the important worries will come up at worry time
