On the Trail - Mustang Families
Aug. 23 - 27 - Back to School Night 8/24 & WASC this week
One Trail
As we enter into the second full week of school, we are so proud of our school - teachers are doing dynamic lessons, students are working hard to meet expectations and reach for their goals and all of our staff are doing their best to meet the needs of our Mustang community.
There are so many positive things going on - here are just a few of so many:
- Our students, teachers and paraprofessionals are working hard in the classroom every day - due to the amount of hours spent in a classroom, the daily impact in a classroom and with our teaching staff is the number one difference maker for our kids! Thank you!
- We have the best A-G completion rates in EGUSD with about 69% from our graduating seniors last year despite the pandemic. The teachers and the counselors have had a huge impact on this as well. We are so grateful for the support in the classroom and with academic advising sessions!
- We have the first ASL program in EGUSD - such a wonderful thing for our community!
- Our academy and pathways and AP/Honors classes and all classes for that matter are continuing their strong college and career readiness curriculum
- Over 1100 Mustang Gold tickets were handed out for student exhibiting Core Values
- Athletics programs are back in competitions
- Student support and wellness work is well under way to meet students where they are at and help intervene as needed
- We have had so many positive comments from our wonderful families in our opening days and also from our new staff members
- and so much more...
Yet, as with any new changes and due to the continued stress of the pandemic, we still have challenges and we recognize that there are still things to work through as we continue into the next weeks. I will address some of these in the newsletter as you read through but as always, reach out if you are still having questions.
We appreciate all of your patience and help as we work through the known challenges and unforeseen challenges ahead. Know that this takes a whole village - ONE TRAIL - to help work through these things and with everyone doing their part, we can overcome anything just as we always have. And, don't forget - there is so much positive at the Trail - we have our kids back! - and everyday we choose where to focus our attentions. Let's stay positive Mustangs!
Keep up the great work! It is an honor to be here with you all!
Go Mustangs!
Please help - we have 3 but really need at least 10 parents for Sept. 19th
WASC parent/guardian adhoc group to give input for our accreditation
We know your time is valuable for sure! That said, this is a very, very important meeting to help us with our accreditation which helps ensure the diploma is valued from MTHS and even more so that we continue to work towards improvement for all of our Mustangs.
We have a great school and while we know we aren't perfect, we have done a self-study to identify strengths and areas of critical need. Your feedback from surveys and listening sessions have helped already but we have one more big task and need your help.
The visiting committee (educators from other areas of California) want to hear from our parents/guardians about our site. They asked fro 10-20 and we so far have only 3 as we approach the visit.
All we ask is about 90 minutes of your time speaking from your heart - honest truth - about your experiences here at the Trail.
This is a vital piece and we so appreciate you considering to take us up on this opportunity.

Thank you for your help. Go Mustangs!

Important Items for Mustang Success
COVID letters and numbers
Remember that while we are taking as many measures as we can, we need your help.
We can take steps to minimize the impact on our campus to the best of our ability to keep everyone as safe as possible.
- Wear Masks indoors - mandatory regardless of vaccination status
- Hand wash and sanitize often - entrance/exit of rooms
- Sit in your assigned seating charts/group charts and call if you will be absent.
- Do not come to school if you have symptoms - staff contact admin and students/families contact the school for admin to then follow protocols directed by nurses in contact with the county and health authorities
- Recommended wear masks in large groups outdoors - our lunch and passing periods for example
- Social distance whenever possible
- Don't share food/drink
- RESPECT the TRAIL and follow all protocols and remind others to as well.
Letters:
The letters regarding exposure/close contact are sent via synergy to families and students. We send these out asap once we are directed.
Check synergy email and EGUSD email daily since this is vital for you to keep up to date.
There are some close contact calls being sent out via an automated system not at site.
Letters that are sent contain the information we are allowed to give per privacy laws. Please know that we are doing all we can to keep everyone safe.
If a parent/guardian receives a letter but has multiple students at our site, please look in your parentvue and you can tell which student's classes it is referring to there.
CHROMEBOOKS - students expected to bring them charged daily
Expectations and communication:
- Students are expected to charge them every night and bring them daily
- Admin/campus supervisors remind them at the gates, in newsletters, emails, meetings and calls
- Teachers are asked to contact families if students are struggling with this and will give students daily reminders
- Do they not have one issued at all? Come to front office attendance window at LUNCH or AFTER School
- Is the one they have not working or other issue? Bring both charger and Chromebook to the front office attendance window at LUNCH or AFTER school
NOTES: We do not have loaners for everyone and we have just enough to have each student have one so please take care of the equipment. There is a shipment coming but it was delayed several times now and then we will be exchanging the older ones for the newer ones as we are able.
We appreciate your patience and your partnership to always come to school prepared to learn with the Chromebook charged and ready to go.
Important Academic Advising Begins
Struggling students? Reporting incidents or concerns
- connect with your teachers for academic support
- email your counselor for wellness and scheduling needs
- refer other students or yourself if there is a need for conflict mediation before anything escalates - let's talk it out
- seek help by connecting with adults on staff or admin as needed
Students can self refer to conflict mediation as well. See Ms. Ramie Gallagher for more details.
And if you see something, say something.
Us our Anonymous Incident Reporting system on our website. It allows for anonymous reporting of bullying, self harm, violence, harassment and more. If the person allows us, we can also communicate two way to get additional details while they still remain anonymous if they choose.
Remember, our student voted phrase when things are not meeting core values and expectations is - RESPECT the TRAIL. It is just a reminder to others to do what is right in the moment. Let's help each other RESPECT the TRAIL and use our resources to help work through concerns safely and respectfully.
