Principal's Report

Kia Ora e te Whānau and welcome to the end of the second week of term.

It was fantastic to see so many parents and teachers able to meet up this week for interviews, either face-to-face or via Zoom. In our current uncertain climate, it is important that we build strong home-school partnerships early, to ensure we are ready if we need to support our students through an isolation period, or move to a home learning model if we are unable to safely staff the school. Our staff really enjoyed the opportunity to learn about our students from their parents. If you were unable to attend an interview, teachers will be in touch shortly to try and arrange another time. A successful home-school partnership has a strong impact on a student's learning, and establishing and building these is a major focus for our school team this year.

Thank you to everyone who followed our COVID procedures and wore masks, scanned in, and kept to their allocated times.

With COVID positive cases creeping closer and closer to South Otago, it is even more important that we work together to ensure everyone stays healthy, so we can work to minimise any disruption to our students learning.

Ngā mihi nui,

Vicki Neave

Whānau and School Update

Our first meeting of the year is next week Thursday 17th February at 7pm in the staffroom. It will be great to touch base and discuss ideas for this year and to see some familiar and new faces at the meeting.

Just a reminder that we are selling Foodwrap and Kitchen Consumables, great products and something everyone always needs. Please have all orders back to school by Monday 28th February. Please note: it would be great if all orders just come in one payment via our Whānau and School bank account and under your name as on the order form. Any questions please just let me know via email or Sara on 02102372282. (Order form is available by selecting the link below.)

Keep safe :-)

Room 1

Room 1 has been learning about letter "A". We have been using our cutting skills to separate the capital and lowercase letters. We enjoyed the hot weather yesterday by having fun scooping our water beads and creating potions.

Room 2

Room 2 have been adding drawings to their Poetry books to take home for the weekend. We've also had lots of fun building with the blocks from Countdown.

Room 3

Room 11

Room 11 students and teacher head outside at every opportunity. This week we were looking at traffic flow around our surrounding streets. This involved some very serious car counting. We have produced graphs from our data and have learnt many new skills along the way.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY this week to...
