There are no people internally displaced that are residing in Cuba or originated from Cuba. 7,058 people are refugees from Cuba that are in a different place and 313 refugees that are in Cuba. (June 2015)

The mortality rate (amount of deaths during childbirth) in Cuba in 2014 was 4.2% ,the lowest it has ever been.


Timeline

1903 - The Platt Amendment was a treaty between the U.S. and Cuba that attempted to protects Cuba's independence from foreign intervention.

1960 - U.S puts embargo on sending medical supplies to Cuba.

1980 - After the Cuban government opens its coast for anyone to leave with a permit, nearly 125,000 Cubans flee to the USA.

1994 - Cuba and the U.S. come to an immigration agreement that the U.S. will accept 20,000 Cubans annually.

1996 - After two U.S. civilian planes are shot down by Cuban air force jets, Congress further tightens the Cuban trade embargo.

1997 - The Clinton administration approves licenses for U.S. news organizations to open bureaus in Cuba.1998 - An executive order from the Clinton administration allows sales of some food and agricultural products to Cuba.

2000 - Russian president visits Cuba and signs accord aimed at boosting bilateral ties.

2004 - Transaction in the U.S. dollars banned & 10% tax on tax-peso are introduced.

2006 - Raul was appointed president, and has been re-elected president since then.
