Fort Worth Library distance learning programs provide Resources, Enrichment, Adventure, and Discovery. Our TEKS-aligned programs cover a variety of engaging topics that support and expand students' knowledge and understanding of classroom curriculum.
The mission of the Fort Worth Library is to welcome and support all people in their enjoyment of reading and recreational materials, and their pursuit of learning and information.

Animal Antics - Acting out Alliterations with Animals and the Alphabet

Love animals? Join Public Education Specialist, Kim Tran, for fun songs and stories about what sounds letters make and what animal movements correspond to each letter. In this program, learners will identify animals and movements that demonstrate alliteration.
Pet Paradise

Love animals? Join librarian, Phoebe DeSantis, for fun songs and stories about what makes the perfect pet and how to be safe around them. In this program learners will identify animals and characteristics that make appropriate pets versus inappropriate pets as well as how to greet an unfamiliar animal.
Pirates, Ahoy!
Grades: 3-8

Aarrr! Join librarian, Jessica Wilson, as she prepares your students for International Talk Like a Pirate Day! How did pirates navigate the seas without GPS and modern technology? Participants will learn about how pirates lived and see how they found their way on the unpredictable seas.

Shake, Rattle, and Read: An Interactive Storytime for the Young and the Restless

In this special bilingual story time, energetic children will have an opportunity to explore sounds, movement, stories and rhymes. A good time is guaranteed, but beware – kids will need room to move and the freedom to be lively. No shushing allowed!

How to Do a LEGO Robotics Program at Your School or Library
Grades: Adults

Bring your classroom into the 21st Century! Learn how the Fort Worth Library uses LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core and Expansion Sets for programming. If you have these LEGO kits and don't know where to start, watch this program for ideas, activities, and challenges. By following step-by-step instructions, your students can create robots that use motors as well as color, gyro, and touch sensors to complete a variety of tasks.
