Student Attendance

Parents, please call in the morning if your student is not going to be attending school for the day. Otherwise it will be an unexcused absence. Call Mrs. Frisbie at 989-466-7602.

What is the PowerSchool Parent Portal?

With PowerSchool Parent Portal you can log in to see all of your children’s information in one place. You will see their grades, assignments, attendance, schedules and school bulletins for each school your children attend. You will need a Parent/Guardian account, an Access ID and Password to link your student to your account. Please contact Ms. Elder at 989-466-7604 for that information. Then follow this link www.almaschools.net to and click on PowerSchool Portal to create an account.

How does the Student or Parent Portal match with the PowerSchool App?

The PowerSchool Mobile App syncs with the parent and student portals. You will see the same information using the App or the portal. You will need this code for the PowerSchool App. KCTM

Student Planner Online

You can also see what is going on in your student’s class by checking their planner online at www.almaschools.net Then pick Donald Pavlik Middle School. Click on Planner Page and find your student's grade level. This will show you what your student is working on in class.

There will be a dance December 6th. The dance will be held in the middle school cafeteria from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Please make sure your parent is at the school by 9:00 p.m. to pick you up. The cost is $5. Concessions will be available to purchase. In order to attend the dance you must be in school all day, unless you have a pre-approved excused absence from Mr. Slavik. If you have been in, In School Suspension or were suspended from school the week of the dance, you will not be able to attend the dance. You must be dress code compliant. All proceeds from the dances go to the Music Boosters to support our music programs.

Miss Bontrager's 6th grade

Miss Bontrager's class did a mini Halloween experiment with her 6th graders using dry ice. The students placed the dry ice in hot water to observe and discuss the process of sublimation.

6th Grade Stem Challenge

Students in Mrs. Guild-Hubbard's science class celebrated Halloween by participating in a Candy Corn STEM Challenge.

Toys For Tots

The Student Council has a Toys for Tots campaign taking place November 25th through December 10th. Students are encouraging their peers to donate a new, unwrapped present to help those children in our community that are less fortunate. Gifts are being collected for children from birth to 16 years old. The grade level that collects the most gifts will be allowed to take their cell phone to lunch on Friday December 13th. Hopefully, the students at DLPMS will show their compassion by donating a toy.

Wind Energy Workshop

We have wind turbines all around us in Gratiot and Isabella Counties! Apex Clean Energy and KidWind held an award winning wind energy workshop for teachers in the Gratiot-Isabella RESD region. Some of the Science teachers from Alma High School and Middle School attended this workshop to learn about the science and technology around wind turbines and blade design. The energy based content and classroom activities aligned to the NGSS.

Mrs. Goward's Consumer Education Class

Special thanks to Kristen Winn, Branch Manager of Alma Mercantile Bank, and Tammy Reeves, Ithaca Mercantile Bank. On October 24th they visited Mrs. Goward's Consumer Education eight grade class. They taught a lesson in "Budgeting for the Real World," as part of the Get Smart About Credit program sponsored by the American Bankers Association. The class enjoyed playing a game that involved randomly assigned scenarios and the planned and "unplanned" expenses they may encounter. We look forward to having them return in the future.

December Music Booster Meeting

The December Alma Music Booster Meeting will be held on Monday, December 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the Alma High School band room.

We would like to encourage you one more time to consider purchasing and using Scrip. Scrip, the Music Boosters’ ongoing fund raiser, is unique because the Boosters aren’t asking our students to sell anything. Rather, the Boosters are asking you to purchase a gift card to a retail store from which you plan to purchase items on a regular basis. Many people give gift cards as Christmas presents. Consider purchasing these through the Music Boosters this year. Money earned from Scrip can be used toward any music related expenses for your child. Scrip can be ordered/purchased at the Alma Sewing Center during regular business hours or online once an account has been set up. For more information visit almamusicboosters.org or contact Leslie Love, leslie.c.love@gmail.com.
