New Principal Named

Earlier this week, Mrs. Patricia Schratz accepted the position of Principal at Saint Matthias. Mrs. Schratz is currently the principal at St Augustine School in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Stay tuned for more information.

Field Day Volunteers Needed

Field Day is this Friday, May 27. Volunteers are needed to help supervise the various games and work the kitchen. We need about 12 more to sign up. Must be Virtus trained. Click on the link below to view the online sign up sheet.

Field Day Reminders

Students should bring a morning snack and a water bottle with the child's name. Lunch will be provided. Students should wear comfortable and appropriate clothing, sunscreen and athletic or PE shoes. Students wearing flip flops or sandals will not be allowed to participate.

Pre-K through First Grade Visits the Zoo.

The sun decided to come out on Tuesday so that Pre-K through first grade could have a great time at the zoo.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Congratulations to our students who were sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit this past weekend.

Uncle Phil's Diner 2 DVD's

There are DVD's available for the play again this year thanks to Dr. Kalshoven. The cost is $15 with $5 going to the school. If you would like copies of last year's play, Uncle Phil 1 the cost is $10 with $5 going to the school. If you would like copies stop by the office and pickup a form.

Birthday Celebration

In celebration of Father Jordan's 75th birthday, we are going to make 75 Birthday Bags. These bags are handed out at our Parish Food Pantry to families in need. Our students participated in this service project last year, and all of them understand the joy of celebrating a birthday! Please sign up to donate cake mix, candles, icing, gift bags, and other birthday supplies (such as napkins, paper hats, etc). Donations need to be turned in by June 2nd. Camp WoHeLo

Camp WoHeLo is held here at St. Matthias beginning June 27 - August 5. The camp program is open to Pre-K through 8th grade. If you enroll in the camp no later than June 3 you will receive a 15 percent reduced rate for the camp program. Last Call Father Hughes Scholarship

The Father Hughes Scholarship is open to any student whose family is a registered, participating member of St. Matthias Parish. The scholarship program is funded by the parishioners of St. Matthias and is awarded to a student that is in need of financial assistance in order to enroll in, maintain, or assist in keeping that student at St. Matthias. To request an application email Mrs. Blackburn at or stop by the office. Submission deadline is Friday, May 27.

Summer Skills Resources

The Summer Skills™ books are three different series of review books (math, language arts and foreign language) for students from pre-k through high school. They offer a Study Skills Review book for grades 7 - high school. Each grade level book helps students maintain their academic skills over the summer months.
