Issue 28 - Feb. 12, 2016 - Excelsior Springs Middle School
Regional STAR Events: Four groups competed in regional STAR events on February 9th. Mercedes Salinas, Gracie Creason, and Marlee Edwards received a gold rating and were invited to state contest as well as Justin Kincaid who also received a gold rating. The following students received silver ratings on their project: Kari Crouse, Jadyn Noblet and Jacey Brewer. Congratulations to all our participants on an excellent regional competition.
National Champs!
Earlier this week we learned that ESMS won first place in a National Middle School Book Fair Contest sponsored by Scholastic. We will be hosting an author's visit later this spring. Congratulations Book Crew, students and staff!
Science Olympiad
Congratulations to Kari Crouse and Bekah Harness who won 4th place in Mission Possible at last week's Region 3 Science Olympiad Tournament in Kansas City. Click here for more pictures from last week's tournament.
Career Day

Richmond Music Festival - February 13
February 13th is the date for the Richmond Music Festival which includes our solo and ensembles as well as performances from our 7th and 8th grade bands. We are so excited to be a part of this festival! Both the 7th and 8th grade bands will have the opportunity to perform as well have a short clinic session with a judge.

Gallatin Site Visit: A panel of student leaders from WEB, Leadership in Action, and the PBS Student Leadership team met with staff from Gallatin School District on Monday about PBS incentives and implementation at the middle school level.
