TELPAS Parent Letter
Dear parents
English Language Learners (ELLs) in grade K-12, including parent denials, are required to be assessed through the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS). The Texas Education Agency developed TELPAS to meet state -and federal testing requirements for assessing the English language proficiency of ELLs in four language domains: listening, speaking, reading; and writing. TELP AS assesses the Texas English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), which are part of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
You may download the letter in English and Spanish below.
From Counselor
The HS-Advancement Counseling Department is working to ensure both students and parents have the opportunity to connect with their assigned counselor!
Many parents have questions regarding academic progress, graduation requirements and college preparation that can easily be answered via email or by scheduling an appointment. While the first line of communication for many of these concerns should be your child’s teacher, counselors are also available to help guide you and your child through high school. Parents can click HERE or scan the QR code to gain access to the Advancement Counseling Department Information Request Form where they can either ask their questions or schedule an appointment with their child’s counselor.
Keep in mind counselors do not accept walk-in appointments but are happy to respond to any inquiries submitted through this form within two (2) business days. We look forward to partnering with you in ensuring your child’s preparation and success during high school and college!

NPR Student Podcast Challenge
We're inviting students around the country to create a podcast, then — with the help of a teacher — compete for a chance to win our grand prize and have your work appear on NPR.
This contest is for teachers with students between 5th and 12th grade. Each podcast should be between three and 12 minutes long.
The winning podcast submissions will be featured in segments on Morning Edition or All Things Considered.
