ALL GRHS STAFF AND STUDENTS MUST BE PROPERLY WEARING A MASK AT ALL TIMES IN THE BUILDING (EVEN IN THE CAFE - UNLESS EATING DURING LUNCH - AND STILL MUST BE SOCIALLY DISTANCED by sitting 4 per table). Students refusing to wear their mask will be sent home.
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Valentine's Day Longhorns,
It looks like Mother Nature has thrown us a little curve ball with this weather. Monday, the entire district will be closed (due to inclement weather and mobility issues) and Tuesday we will all be working VIRTUALLY from home for the same reasons. (I have included a picture of the VIRTUAL ZOOM SCHEDULE for you again below). Don't forget that the last day of the 4th six weeks is this Friday still!
It is imperative that you are logging in for attendance purposes and completing all your work in CANVAS on TUESDAY as this is considered a regular SCHOOL DAY, where assignments will be due as normal to be counted present for the day. If for some reason, outside of your control, like electricity or wifi issues at your house, you will need to be proactive by emailing your teacher and letting them know so that they can help you with a plan to make up that work upon our return. I would venture to say that the majority of this campus has a phone, as I see you on them each day, so please be responsible and choose to email them from your phone if your home wifi is not available and you will need an additional day. Please be mindful that, just as you may have wifi/electricity issues, so may our staff, so your patience is appreciated as we pivot on Tuesday to an online day for everyone. Stay safe and if this cold spell actually produces some snow, get out there and experience a little fun, make some memories, as this doesn't happen very often for us in this part of Texas!
Girls Swim qualifiers will be headed to state on Friday....stay tuned for pictures from the GR send off as we wish them well and best of luck to bring home the BLING and more personal best records back to the Ranch! Good luck Coach Fontenot and ladies! The following Friday will be the same for the boy qualifiers! GRHS has 11 swimmers that qualified to the state finals and we are so proud of the entire team and the swim program's hard work and success!

Let's keep being smart and stay safe by adhering to the face to face expectations by properly wearing those masks, sanitizing regularly, and following social distancing protocols to the best of our ability. We can't completely control COVID, but we can definitely slow the spread down, and that is A LOT! Any student refusing to follow the rules will be given disciplinary consequences, which will in turn affect their semester exam exemptions. Let's all do our part to keep GR the PLACE to be... especially for those of us CHOOSING to be face to face.
Thank you so much to all our parents and students reaching out to your Assistant Principal for questions and assistance. Please CONTINUE to email your (or your student's) Assistant Principal , as they can assist you the quickest.

VIRTUAL LEARNING ZOOM SCHEDULE - REMINDER FOR TUESDAY SINCE EVERYONE IS VIRTUAL!
ATTENDANCE ASSISTANCE NEEDED FROM STUDENTS AND PARENTS!
Parents, if you know your student is not going to be at school when they are normally face-to-face, please email Ms. Hancock: dhancock@lcisd.org You must include an ID#, as well as, the date the student will be out. This must come from a parent/guardian ONLY for the day to be moved to virtual.
It is so much easier on teachers for a student to be marked virtual by the office. In addition to that, please have the student email each of their teachers so that they will know that they will need to check the student’s attendance on Canvas.
If the reason is connected to Covid in any way, please let us know that as well.
This year, with COVID protocols in place, we have a rare opportunity for students to be able to work virtually when uncontrollable circumstances happen, and not get marked absent (as long as they are COMPLETING THEIR WORK VIRTUALLY) however, we need for students and parents to work with us on keeping it all straight.
George Ranch High School Cheer tryouts will be Thursday, March 11th!
11th Grader SAT TEST OPPORTUNITY at GRHS on March 3rd, 2021- LAST CHANCE!
MUST REGISTER BY FEBRUARY 15TH TO TEST! THAT'S TOMORROW!
On March 3, 2021 George Ranch High School will offer the SAT School Day to all students enrolled in 11th grade. The district will cover the cost of the SAT School Day and students will not need to pay.
All on campus juniors for the 5th six weeks will AUTOMATICALLY BE REGISTERED for this test.
For planning purposes and social distancing, we are requiring that all virtual juniors register using this link: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=YLr5XW0hUkih1cpB5PakUj2cTO3vs-hBnIKhiv7QRxdUQUpIRVNFTkRNSjdZUUxYTzhaSjg0TkpOTy4u if they plan to report to campus on March 3rd to take this test.
The registration deadline is Monday, February 15, 2021. Please note that the SAT School Day must be taken in person and there is NOT a virtual testing option. This link can also be found in Canvas under the Counselor’s Corner page under Testing at GRHS.
Students registered to take the SAT School Day will receive an email with additional test day information on or before February 24, 2021. If you have any questions, please email our testing coordinator Kyra Thomas kthomas@lcisd.org.
