As we all know, this will be Sharon's last week with us. Thank you again to all who were able to attend her retirement gathering last Friday. I want to thank Sharon again for everything that she has done and continues to do for all of us. She will be missed!
Deb Pletcher will begin in her new position on Wednesday and will be able to spend a few days working with Sharon. Deb is coming to us from Walt Disney elementary. Please come down and introduce yourself to Deb at some point.
And, we welcome Dan Tryniecki back to the language arts classroom. He will be filling in for Carol Schraw for the rest of the year as Carol takes time off to be with her parents.
Enjoy this week with your students. Inspire them, challenge them, and provide learning opportunities that foster academic dialogue and stretch individual students' abilities.
Will will also be inducting 40 new NJHS members Wednesday evening!
A note from Bethel.....
Through the years, our Bethel Education majors have had excellent experiences at Schmucker, and we’re grateful for your teachers that invested in them.
Right now I’m organizing fieldwork for our Juniors in local classrooms for observation/participation. I would certainly appreciate having four of our Secondary majors placed at Schmucker for 10-15 hours this semester in these classrooms - 1 Math, 1 Social Studies, and 2 Science. The participating teachers will receive 15 Professional Growth Points for their license renewal. Thank-you for considering this request.
If you have an interest in hosting a Bethel student, please let me know.
Advisory
It has been great to see the many different Growth Mindset bulletin boards in classrooms the past week. Thank you for encouraging our students and inspiring them to develop a Growth Mindset. I encourage everyone to make these boards interactive as we continue this discussion.
Advisory classes will meet three times this week. Class meetings will also begin this week. Please bring students to the cafeteria directly after attendance.
Goal setting materials will be placed in teacher mailboxes. Talk to students about writing Q3 SMART Growth Mindset goals and applying what they have learned about how their brain grows and the different mindsets.
