HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 3 Week 1 Friday 22 July
FROM MARK
Hi Everyone,
The words of Thomas Merton continue to inspire and challenge..
The start to our term has been fabulous, with children bursting in ready to embrace what their school has to offer. This truly is wonderful to witness.
We were fortunate on Wednesday to be visited by Wimbledon Men’s Doubles Champion Matt Ebden. Tennis is very popular here and our students well-regarded in the Tennis Australia programme, so when an opportunity to host Matt was offered to our P.E. teacher Rob Flexman, he jumped at the opportunity. Matt had a hit with our Faction Captains, then met the rest of our PP-6 children. He spoke about the significance of his Wimbledon win and how his journey in tennis led him to the prestigious Championship title. Matt also shared what he has learned about hard work, commitment, self-belief and what it means to follow your dreams. This was a lovely interlude and we thank Tennis Australia for the invitation to be involved. It was worth every minute!
We were also blessed with the presence of about a dozen students from Newman College on Tuesday who spent the day here supporting our children and staff as part of their Christian Service programme. We were delighted to see them and really appreciated their enthusiastic support.
Year One assembly next week, we hope to see you there!
Have a great weekend.
Mark

COVID CONVERSATION CONTINUED
The correspondence below is being sent to all schools in the state regarding the virus. Essentially it aligns with our ongoing message about wearing masks and staying away when unwell. Illness comes in many forms including ‘productive’ coughs, runny noses etc, and all are reasons for staying away from school. Sick children and adults spread illness very quickly. It only takes one sick child in a class to bring down a lot of children - and their teacher - causing a lot more absences. Already we have staff away because of covid and other viruses.
To date this year we have been very fortunate to be able to secure relief teachers when ours are away unwell. There is plenty of evidence in other schools of classes being grouped together for example when people are not available to take a class, which is a measure of last resort. We are keen not to go there and with your help keeping the bugs out of school, we maximise our chances of keeping things normal! Thank you for your support. It makes all the difference.
