Captain's Log
PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
AHOY, PIRATES!
What a much-needed rest! I hope you had a chance to enjoy being with your families and possibly taking in the sights and sounds of Cruisin' the Coast 2019. The highlight of my weekend was spending time with my 5-year-old grandson, Edward looking for hermit crabs and Camaros. He stopped and posed, without prompting, at every Camaro he saw. I guess he is a Chevy man in the making.
Now that we are all rested, it is time to begin term two with as much zeal and exuberance as we began the school year. Semester one is our prime instructional time; we have to make the most of every day. Continue to provide meaningful and engaging standards-based instruction to our students for maximum impact on their learning. Remember to provide needed structure to each class period by using your class agenda to move throughout the period and day. This level of structure provides students with the framework from which they will build their expectations of day-to-day happenings. Be sure to point out your Essential Question and standards each day to help students know what they are learning and why they are learning it as a means of getting to relevancy. Finally, the bell or clock does not end class. Thought-provoking questioning and formative inquiry should end every class to get a strong read on what students learned each day. These high impact instructional practices coupled with the amazing Pirate team of educators will continue to grow our students toward our mission. Thank you for always being forever committed to excellence.
With that, I submit the Captain’s Log. #2020vision #committedtoeXcellence #eXcellencemarksthespot cje

One Book, One Pass - Pirates Stand Out as Awesome!
Special thanks go out to Mrs. Heidi Byrd for challenging our students to read challenging texts. Our students enjoyed the event and commented on how they were able to follow Mecham's presentation as what he said related to what they are learning and had read; they were the real stars in the room. Thanks also to Mrs. Leyser for continuing to serve on the committee that selects the book and organizes the events.
