Everett Weekly 4.14.23
April 14, 2023
Happy Friday!
Woah, this newsletter is a doozy. I apologize for all the information, as I know you all want to get out and enjoy these remaining beautiful hours of sunshine and warmth before the snow and rain come. #IHeartChicago Thank you for hanging in there with me for a few more minutes to create that To Do list before you unplug and enjoy your weekend.
As always, thank you for your support, kind words of encouragement, and all you do each and everyday. And THANK YOU to the families who have reached out to schedule a coffee with me. It’s been a pleasure getting to know you more and listening to your thoughts.
"Warmest" Regards,
Renée

2022-2023 EVERETT YEARBOOK ORDER DEADLINE: MAY 1st!
Purchasing a school yearbook is optional and is usually done during the online school registration process in June. However, if you did not purchase one at that time, you can still submit an order form and payment to the Everett front office. Yearbooks are $20. If you are unsure whether or not you ordered a yearbook for your student/s, you may send an email to: yearbookeverett@gmail.com to receive verification. Order forms can be emailed to you upon request or picked up in the school vestibule.
Spring NWEA MAP Testing
District 67 students in grades 2-8 will take the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) during April 24-May 5. MAP is a Common Core-aligned, adaptive, computer-based assessment. This nationally normed assessment is designed to measure growth over time in the areas of reading and math. The district utilizes the achievement and growth data from MAP to inform instructional planning for individuals and groups of students; and measure growth from year-to-year.
News From DPM
Rising 5th Grade Families
Deer Path Administration invites the parents and guardians of incoming 5th graders to join us for our Jump-Start to 5th Grade parent information evening. The evening will run in-person at Deer Path in the Auditorium from 6:00 pm until 7:45 pm on Wednesday, April 19th. All sessions will be recorded and shared out after the evening concludes, along with a DPM “Nuts & Bolts” document that outlines some key takeaways from the evening!
Additionally, this is the time of year in which we begin making decisions about class placement for next year. When creating classes, many things are taken into consideration, including the individual learning styles and personalities of each student. We strive to have a well-balanced, academically heterogeneous group of students with a full range of learner abilities in every classroom. If you would like to share information about some unique aspect of your child's learning style and/or any specific academic and/or social concerns that should be considered, please respond to this Google Form by Friday, May 12. Please note that specific teacher requests will not be considered. Thank you for trusting our professional judgment as we work to create a wonderful learning experience for each and every student here at Deer Path.
Sincerely,
Megan

School’s Out Food Drive - May 1-5, 2023
Please join the District 67 APT for the School's Out Food Drive to benefit North Chicago Community Partners. Donations will be accepted from Monday, May 1 to Friday, May 5 at all of our District 67 Schools.
Requested Donations
The following items for your school may be dropped off in your school lobby:
- Cherokee: Canned Mixed Vegetables, Bagged Pinto Beans, Vanilla Extract, Peanut Butter or Jelly
- DPM 5/6: Cereal Boxes, Individual Snack Boxes, Baking Soda or Baking Powder, Peanut Butter or Jelly
- DPM 7/8: Mac & Cheese Cups, Juice Boxes, Cooking Oil, Peanut Butter or Jelly
- Everett: Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Chocolate Chips, Peanut Butter or Jelly
- Sheridan: Apple Sauce, Granola Bars, Canned Corn, Rice, Peanut Butter or Jelly
Why Donate?
One in four children in neighboring communities experience food insecurity and are left without regular meals (normally served at school) over the summer months. To help these students, District 67 works with North Chicago Community Partners (NCCP), a local nonprofit supporting our neighboring youth in North Chicago School District 187. Each week, about 75 families visit NCCP's Family Care Closet, a respectful school-based food pantry available to area families. Your donation of food matters!
Volunteers Needed
Join us to help sort the food after school on Friday, May 5, 3:30pm at CROYA.
