Google Classroom
This past week, I had the pleasure of working with some third graders at Sagamore Hill ES. They were learning about Google Classroom. These students are in Mrs. Gutierrez's class. An important item to note is that they were very comfortable with Google Classroom, even though it was their first time using it.
Remember, a lot of our students very quickly take to new digital applications because being digital is not really "new" to them.
I would love to show you Google Classroom (for elementary and middle schools) or itslearning.com (for middle schools). I can demonstrate how these apps can assist you and your students.
Some benefits include
- Reduced paperwork
- More engagement
- Less time grading assignments
- Applying 21st-century skills to paper and pencil tasks
Make an appointment with me so we can talk about how Google Classroom or itslearning.com might work within your instructional day.
Google Classroom Examples
I have created some sample classrooms in Google Classroom that you can enroll in and explore.
These examples were created using my regular Gmail account for training purposes only.
You CANNOT use Google Classrooms created with your regular Gmail with students. When you are ready to create your Google Classrooms for student use, you will use your FWISD Google account.
When you log in to my classes, it is very important that you SELECT TEACHER. You will still be a student in the class.
You will want to select TEACHER so you will be able to create sample classes that you can practice with later.
Once again, we can’t use Google Classrooms set up with regular Google with students, only for training with adults.
Go to classroom.google.com and log in with your regular Gmail account. Read and accept the agreement that you are not using your regular Gmail with students. SELECT TEACHER!
Click the + (plus) sign to join a class and enter the code of the class you would like to join.
You can enroll and participate in multiple classes.
PreK-Kindergarten Google Classroom code: 3yxn56
1-2 grade code: Google Classroom code rfmqoi
3-5 grade code: Google Classroom code enz0p31
Paper Reduction Google Classroom Activities code tvqu38
Origami Makerspace Challenge - You can still participate!
You will find lots of ideas at www.origami-fun.com.
Take a picture of your origami creation and post it on the Padlet. You can use the QR code below to go to the Padlet directly from your device.

Navigate to your picture to add it to the Padlet.
All submitted pictures will be approved before they are published so it won't show up online immediately. If a student is in your picture, make sure they have a media release.
