Return of Faith Families for K-8!

This Friday, students in grades K-8 were finally able to share in a Faith Family Christmas activity bafter a two year hiatus. For those of you new to St. Catherine in the last couple of years, Faith Families are a wonderful community building activity in which students combine in family groups. Each "Faith Family" is labeled with an attribute and a country. For example I join with two other teachers to lead the Love family and our country is Italy. Each family has 2-3 students from each K-8 grade level. Our 7th and 8th grade students typically help lead activities with the guidance of 1-3 teachers in each family. This is such a special time for students to build friendships across grades, and for our older students to serve as leaders and role models. This week's activity involved making Christmas ornaments and enjoying festive Christmas music. A huge thank you to Parent Club, Tammy Matusak, and Jill Richard for your help in organizing this special activity!

Preschool Staffing Update

We recently were fortunate to receive a grant for our preschool program enabling us to hire an additional instructional assistant. We are thrilled to welcome Diane Cunningham who will be a full-time "floating" assistant offering support in both our Cubs and Tigers programs. Diane comes to St. Catherine with a strong background in early childhood education, and will be starting on December 10th. We are so excited to have another set of helpful hands on board!

Advent Reflections

As we reflect during this season of Advent, students spend their Monday mornings in reflection and prayer during our morning announcement and prayer time. We celebrate this season of waiting and remember the meaning behind each week. Teachers facilitate this time in their rooms, as well, with Advent wreaths and additional lessons throughout these weeks.

On Friday, students in K-8 will celebrate an additional all-school mass. Student in K-2 and 6 will celebrate in person, while all others will join via live stream.
