What an incredible first week we had at Walden School! It feels like we are getting into the swing of our routines and students are adjusting back into school life! Thank you for all you've done at home to prepare your child for the transition. Our success this week has a lot to do with you!

Building students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) skills is important in District 109. As a part of the learning process, we ask students in grades K-8 to reflect on skills related to social-emotional learning and the school environment. The fall survey will be administered to all students between September 5th and September 22nd and it should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. Per policy, if you would like your child to opt out of taking the survey, please contact your school principal no later than Friday, September 1.

The DHS Athletic Booster Club's FUTURE WARRIOR FAST PASS is for middle school & elementary school students ONLY.

This pass is good for admission to all regular season home football games, all regular season girls and boys basketball games and all regular season home wrestling matches for the 2023-2024 school year.

Cost is $10.00 per child

Order online @ www.d113boosters.org and a digital download fast pass will be emailed to you after purchase. Please include your child’s name and school in the notes to seller during checkout.

The first DHS home football game is this Friday vs. DePaul Prep and we are hoping to have a huge crowd for the Warriors!

4:30pm kickoff for frosh/soph game

Come early to get a good seat and don’t miss halftime performances by the Warrior Dance Team and DHS Marching Band!

Arrival will take place from 8:35-8:45. Staff are assigned to each entrance door and they are there to safely welcome students into the building each morning. All late arrivals should come to the front office since all other doors will be locked after 8:45.

Dismissal is at 3:25 everyday except for Wednesdays which is 2:25. Students will exit from the same door they entered from, except for 2nd grade which will be exiting from the main entrance doors.

Please see the image below which depicts the approved snacks for elementary students in DPS109. Students will be eating snack once a day.

Pets are not allowed on school grounds unless they are needed as a service animal. Our school grounds are also closed during the school day. If a recess supervisor sees a parent or community member walking through our back fields, they will ask them to exit the premise and use a different route. This is for student safety, which is always a priority at Walden.

We ask that all families follow the rules of the parking lot to make for a calm and pleasant arrival and dismissal. Please see the map above which shows that our inside lane is for drop off and pick up only while our outside lane is our drive thru lane. Students are not to be dropped off or picked up in the outer lane. During arrival, our buses need to leave once students have exited their bus. Please be patient as we need to assist in allowing our buses to leave first. We also ask that parents drive as far forward as possible when dropping off or picking up their child(ren).
